nadateturbe Mum of baby has a 13yr old daughter (lives with them) who still hasn't yet got a school place (mum applied in Oct). She's apparently 5th on the waiting list - they live literally 5 minutes' walk from the school. I'm glad the Neurology appointment went well, no cause for concern. The nightmare of trying to park is a common thing and very stressful - the 2 hospitals in Nottingham are the same.

SweetpeaSue I've seen the film Fried Green Tomatoes (although I can't remember what it was about ), didn't know it had been a book first. Hope you're ok today.

EllieAnne You're a good mum, helping your son and his family like that. Nice that you saw your GD and were able to chat with your son. He gets up at 3am , it's the middle of the night!

Doodle Yes, anxiety can cause breathlessness. I hope your husband's infection is starting to clear up a bit now. I hope you'll be able to get something decent to eat today. Are there any other visitors on the ward to chat with now and again?

ScaredyCat Alzheimer's is terrible, isn't it? Very sad for the family and friends of someone with it. How very sad about your friend's DIL. We never know what's in store, do we, which is just as well.

I didn't feel like going to the day centre, so have been faffing about. Busy couple of days ahead - Chubby Chops will be here tomorrow morning, right through until Saturday teatime! Mum and Dad are going to the Peak District for a spa weekend. Hope the weather will be ok for them getting there. I've bought a variety of nice (puree) foods for Baby Doll, a baby sleeping bag, and a couple of new toys, all to keep here.

Nadateturbe- your Son is certainly one to be proud of- thinking of that poor man while he was suffering himself. I hope he soon gets the help he needs and deserves. You must ne so concerned for him.
I,m glad your neurology Appt went well despite your Car Park saga- you must have been exhausted before you even got in the hospital!! A few months ago DH took me for a H appt and we couldn’t park anywhere in the Hospital grounds so had to park on a nearby estate and walk. Not much good if you can’t walk!!
HVDY- that sounds like a lovely day. Chubby Chops will have really good social skills as she does so many nice and varied things with you all..
nice subject for your next painting - look forward to a viewing. It’s really good to take your mind of everything else isn’t it.

Doodle- our Hospital has an M and S food shop - might there be one in yours? Lots of nice things in there.
You need food to keep you warm and nourished as well as healthy- I feel worried about you too.
So wish there was something we could do to help. Please know you are both very mich in my thoughts as I know you are in everyone’s. Hope you are getting some decent sleep.

Yesterday we visited my friend whose DH is in H with Alzheimer’s. She is not in a good place mentally but physically thank goodness OK. It is very distressing to see her so sad and confused- it is heartbreaking as some of you know from experience.
Also we had terrible news yesterday- another friends DiL was taken off life support yesterday- so much sadness and grief.
We must appreciate every day we have with our loved ones.
Wyllow- so good to see you posting - always feels good to see you here.

HVDY no, no shops on way but hospital does do a salad. I might have one tonight but I’m not that hungry really.
I think the breathlessness may be a bit panic and anxiety. The longer he’s here the more stressed he’s getting.

The hospital is very cold it’s hard to find anywhere to sit where you don’t freeze. The wards are warmer but the corridors very cold. Fortunately there is a prayer room which is warmer and peaceful. I pop in a few times a day.
Glad the neurology appointment went well.
Sweetpeasue they won’t let DH home until his infection is under control. It just keeps going on.
Shame you don’t like the book club book. Means you still have to read it I suppose.
Ellie Anne that’s an early start for your son. Does he work long hours? Hope you have a nice walk with your friend.

Nadateturbe The car park fiasco was a nightmare for all those patients and yourself. Really disgraceful.How can poorly people and worried visitors be expected to face that? Our hospital parking can be hit and miss but luckily never been as bad as that. Good your scan was OK. DH had one on his head when his speech became slurred and it showed small vessel disease though they said it was expected with age. You do get worried though don't you? Book is voted on though I wasn't there for that. Anyone can put forward a title beforehand. Hope you managed to sleep after your post!
EllieAnne Glad you managed a chat with your son. I understand the rarity when they're tired. My son can be the same after his offshore job. It's freezing here and covered in snow again. Cars having difficulty getting out. Hope you have a nice walk and chat with your friend.
Doodle Thinking of you today and hoping you find DH a bit brighter. If only they could let him home I think you would both be relieved and it would be easier.

Had a very busy day yesterday. Went to son 1 to do some housework and collect dgd 2 from school. Had a chat with him (a rare occurrence as he’s usually a bit grumpy from getting up at 3 for work) and he definitely won’t be going to funeral.
Roads were fine but the sun was awful.
Came home 5 ish then went to warm space run by the church to wash dishes for an hour. Fell asleep watching Tv so went to bed at ten.
Sorry you are so down doodle. Is there any chance of your dh getting home? The travelling back and forth must be exhausting too.
Hospital parking can be a nightmare Nadateturbe. It’s bad here too. I’m glad you got to your appointment and results were ok,
I’m meeting a friend for a walk later, it’s cold but dry so we will probably go along the beach.
Going to put a stew in the slow cooker for dh s meal tonight.
And get some washing done.i hate it hanging about the house but only use tumble dryer when I have to.

Neurology was good Sweetpeasue. 2nd follow up to MRI. Scan although showing poorer brain circulation was not uncommon at age 72. No signs of dementia. Problems I have are still associated with recovering from head injury. Queue extremely long. Took one hour to park, so 40 mins late for appointment. Had to ring husband to ring and tell them I would be late. Close to car park, barrier refused to lift and let us enter. I was the one who had to ring 3 places to get maintenance to fix. A lot of very stressed late patients!
Do you all get a chance to choose the book each month?

Doodle Is there any chance your DH could come home or is it really in his own health interests to stay there? If its critical he stay where he is, you can only support him with love and encouragement as you are doing. I hope the antibiotics are fighting the infection and that he is soon over this awful time. Sending much love to you and prayers for strength for you both. You are doing your very best. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Went to neurology appointment. All good but shattered. Hospital car park a disaster but haven't the energy to talk about it. Another letter to my MP and MLA! My country is a mess.

SweetpeaSue Glad you felt able to go to the reading group. How many attend? What are you/have you been reading? I'm not very confident about driving these days and only go locally on my own. I'm happy to let my husband drive most of the time now. My new painting is of a bee on a flower.

Doodle Are there any supermarkets on the way to the hospital? There are pre-prepared salads that would perhaps be ok. I'm sorry you're both having such a horrible time. What's causing your husband's breathlessness? I hope you both manage to get some rest tonight, you must be tired out.

What is the picture you are painting this time? Been icy cold here too. I actually went to my reading group today, not been for a month, and it was OK. I'm just pleased I managed it as it felt rather scary going out alone and driving. Had my painkillers with me but would have felt so embarrassed if it had come on there.DH said he'd come and get me if I was bad. I have a bit more confidence back , going alone. I know it could have been different, but it wasn't I was OK.

How has everyone's day been? It's been very cold here, but sunny and no frost. DH and I picked up DIL, her daughter (still hasn't got a school place and is on a list!) and Chubby Chops - Son2 was working from home. Had a pub lunch, went to a couple of shops, then took them home. Just started a new painting-by-numbers kit.

Ellie Anne she has been posting on other threads since she left BD in a huff.

I’ve just seen Anniebach comment on another thread. Think of her often and hope she is happy where she is.

nadateturbe I do hope your son gets some help with his depression. Mine started with no reason (it used to be called Endogenous depression) and is awful because the person feels like a fraud when there is no obvious cause. How very kind of him to help the homeless man. The country is a messed-up place when it can give shelter to illegal immigrants (I don't mean true asylum seekers) but not elderly or homeless people here.

nadateturbe your son even though feeling depressed still thought about others above himself . I think he saved that man's life and he should feel very proud of himself. I know you feel proud of him .

Ellie Anne I definitely wouldn't go to the funeral especially with the train fare that much. Also the way the weather has been it will be to dangerous driving on the motorway especially if snow and ice stopped the traffic and you where stranded in the car freezing . Neither you or your husband are well enough. In December 2022 my daughter took me to my best friend's husband's funeral . When we left here it was 0° when we got there it was -5° and we hit snow going down . A journey which should have taken 90 mins took just over 2.5 hours and we arrived at the church just as the vicar started the eulogy. It was a burial and it was freezing standing in the snow only my daughter and my trusty stick keep me upright. Thankfully it only took 10 mins outside.

Doodle I am very worried about you not eating . Could someone make you healthy meals and leave in the fridge just to heat up in the microwave when you get home. You don't sound well yourself and hospitals are the worst place to catch a cold or virus. Which would mean you couldn't visit your husband. And he must be very worried about you.

I do worry about the rest of you but can't always remember who says what. I am not snubbing anyone it just my thoughts get jumbled at least I know it's my HPX but have always been the same way . 🤗

Nadateturbe You will be so worried about your son. Its just disgraceful that he is having to wait so long for a GP appt. The NHS is in such a dreadful state. You must be so proud of your son for giving help to that poor homeless man.I know I would be. He may well have saved his life-who knows-given the drop in temperatures.
