I had a neighbour who had five replacement hips. Three one side two the other. And the last time it was both hips. I don’t know how she stood it.

My OH, who has had a resurfacing on one side and a replacement on the other, was told to be careful as there is a limit to the amount of movement that can be tolerated.

Yes, it was but back under GA and seems to be behaving now, I now realise nothing can be taken for granted and that I need to watch myself and not presume all is well as it used to be. I am not be best person for keeping on my feet even before this and need to watch what I'm doing more I think. I do think the problem was how I was bending/twisting at the time to pick up a dog ball, should have just myself off the sofa and picked it up properly! Thanks for the replies

Unusual these days, OH has a replacement 4 months ago and seems as able and agile as before the only difference seems to be he is more cautious about falls and looks where he is putting his feet.

not personally but as a retired OT, yes I have seen people who have had this problem. Its neither rare not frequent. Causes vary and you will need to take advise from your orthopaedic team about aftercare and prevention. Broadly I agree with Charleygirl5.

I am assuming it has popped back in now! So sorry that this has happened - very frustrating for you.

Ooh, that sounds nasty. Hope you will soon be feeling better. I had a THR about six years ago and I regularly play badminton twice a week. This is proper badminton, not ping pong type badminton, so lots of bending, stretching, jumping etc. Medics have always encouraged me to keep active but your post has worried me a little. I'm 79 btw.

Sorry to hear about your hip hope it settles down and doesn’t give you any more trouble
I shall take it as a warning as I have two Which touch wood behave themselves
As a matter of interest how did they put it back. Surgically?
Take care

I think you need to see a physio asap and between you, you will hopefully work out how it happened.

Unfortunately, people are under the impression that after time, usually a year, they can do absolutely anything with that hip. That is not strictly true. I err on the side of caution but I can look at it from the professional point of view having seen so many.

Feel free to PM me.

Posting just in case someone has suffered the same? Happened last week when I bent over sideways, totally my fault, but God the pain! Would be helpful to hear if anyone else has had this happen. Hip replacement is 2 years old and haven't had any problems at all. Hospital said this usually only happens early on. I'm getting a bit worried actually about what I can or should be able to do in the future. I've felt very fragile all week and conscious of where and how I move which is not how I want to go on. So if anyone has any experience I would appreciate your feedback.
