I am sure there must be a few of us with dry eye? Can I ask what treatment, if any, you use and how do you know if it's working? Mine is asymptomatic 🤓

I use Hycosan, the red one which really helps. However I was waking up during the night with a really itchy right eye. Hay fever doesn’t help.
Ordered the Hycosan night ointment. Although it’s tricky to apply I have really seen an improvement. It does blur my vision in that eye. So instead of reading in bed I listen to my audio book.
Thanks so much for the recommendation.

Ooh tee tree.
I think I'd be too nervous to try that.

I have Blephritis and dry eyes. The optician recommended the heated pad, then wipe with a drop of tea tree oil mixed with water, then Hycosan drops. I found the night ointment too difficult to use. I was told to always wear sunglasses in bright weather and that tears are not as effective when you get older.

Absolutely! Dealing with dry eyes can be a hassle, but you're not alone. For treatment, many find relief with lubricating eye drops or gels to keep those peepers hydrated. Since yours is asymptomatic, it's great to stay proactive. Keep an eye on any changes in comfort or vision clarity – that's usually a good indicator if the treatment is working for you. And remember, it's always a good idea to check in with your eye doc for personalized advice. Here's to keeping those eyes sparkling and comfortable!

Dry eyes.. am prescribed TEAR-LAC which is preservative and phosphate free.. my left eye is drier than my right and these drops are more serum based than just eye drops.. have instant relief from irritating dryness😎

Same here. Hycosan and an eye mask when things get really bad. I have the eye drops on Amazon Subscribe and Save every three months. Makes it cheaper - and they do last for ages.

I'm at the point of desperation with mine.
They are red rimmed, and so sore, despite having everything but the kitchen sink in them. It really is a horrible thing to put up with, relentlessly.

Hi I use xailin prescribed I'm not sure they are helping

I use Thealoz Duo four times a day, it does make eyes bit sticky but I have a problem with one eye so must stick with it.

I have just ordered Hycosan Night ointment click and collect. Buy one get second at half price. Our Boots is quite small and the shelves are often empty as they were this morning.

Very glad to hear that Toetoe ........ Hycosan is my go to dry eye product too! smile

Toetoe Thu 16-May-24 08:56:05

After reading the recommendations for Hycosan I went into Boots chemist and it was buy one get one half price . I bought Hycosan plus because of my watery eyes . Its now day 3 and I can't thank you enough , my eyes are so much better . I'm not wiping them and they are settling easier for the first time since my cataract removal 15 months ago . I feel so much better

harrysgran Tue 14-May-24 12:24:35

Tried a few different eye drops then optician recommended hycosan night and has given most relief

DanniRae Sun 12-May-24 07:12:46

I really suffered from dry eyes until I started using Hycosan Extra (red label). I still use it but mainly only once in the evening. It's expensive but lasts for ages and I am so glad I found it smile

Lovetopaint037 Sun 12-May-24 05:47:53

I use Hycosan and Hycosan extra. They are the only eye drops I can use
as they do not contain preservatives. In the past any eye drops bought from the pharmacy sent my eyes mad with stinging.
and pain. Found Hycosan has really helped and yes it’s not that easy to deposit the drops exactly where you intend but as long as it is somewhere in the eye it works for me. I now order them from Amazon.

Dry eyes after cataract surgery and use EVOLE eye drops on prescription . I have an electric eye mask and I was using daily then massaging my eye lids as recommended by optician but i think I over massaged and caused a flare up of bletheritis . Its taken 8 weeks for my eyes to calm. Now I am using the eye mask on low heat and not massaging eye lids but using cool boiled water to wipe my eyes a few times a day . My eyes feel wet most of the time . Been told I must live with it and it's age related

My optician have me permanent prescription National Heath Service.
I order them every month.

Thanks MissA. Sorry to hear how much you're suffering with your eyes. It's a lot to cope with.

MissAdventure Thu 09-May-24 19:30:38

After using a heated mask on your eyes, you can gently massage them, pressing the skin just below your bottom lashes, and pushing gently upwards.

It's what the eye consultant told me to do.
It feels as if I'm descaling my bottom lids, and she said that is how it should feel, because that's what I'm doing.

nadateturbe Thu 09-May-24 19:19:24

Thanks everyone.

I have macular degeneration (wet form). I also have constantly weeping eyes and dry eye at night. The consultant recommended an eye mask containing flax. I find it helps a lot as long as I remember .to use it regularly.

Oldbat1 Thu 09-May-24 11:54:31

The optician advised the red hycosan to use. He also recommended using a heated eye mask (microwave 20seconds). I bought both off the shelf in Specsavers. What a difference to my eye comfort.

nadateturbe Thu 09-May-24 09:29:38

I've been told it's blepharitis but I can't see any rash on my eyelids. And my eye is still gritty. I use hydramed drops, I've stopped using hycosan ointment, it feels very uncomfortable and if I'm awake, as I can be for hours, during the night I can't read.
How do heated eye masks help, and where can I buy, please, anyone?
Caleo interesting that you didn't need them in hospital. I wonder why. (Hope you're OK now).

EkwaNimitee Thu 09-May-24 09:06:43

I use Viscotears for mine though I have the same opinion as HelterSkelter about them.
This is a useful thread so I'm also bumping it up above all this spam.
