35 percent uplift on doctors’ pay using 2010 as baseline . Needs to fall as follows:
Year 1. £30256 to £34032
Year 2. £37527 to £42435

So how far apart are the current offers from these figures? The public should be kept accurately informed.

35 percent uplift on 2008 doctor’s salary
My calculations show salaries now need to be
Year 1. £29413 to £33197
Year 2 £36606 to £39861

How far away are the current offers on the table? Every patient in the Uk is entitled to know exactly what this is all about. Best not involve YouGov but get the hard figures if possible.
Or is the year 2010 more significant to the BMA?

Here you are - unbiased source.

Casdon. It’s okay. I have just located pay for doctors as of 1/4/2008.
Very interesting.
Are they asking for an uplift of 30 per cent from then?

henetha Fri 09-Feb-24 15:43:40

I agree. It's time they stopped these strikes. I lost sympathy a while ago.

Here is the YouGov link ronib specially for you.

Obviously only lefties and doctors read the Guardian, so it’s a notoriously unreliable source.

AGAA4 Fri 09-Feb-24 15:23:52

Striking doctors have lost all their integrity. They don't earn only £14 per hour as is written on their placards.
They are putting lives at risk which surely goes against their code?

ronib Fri 09-Feb-24 15:10:51

The facts - in the Guardian?

Casdon Fri 09-Feb-24 15:04:45

A few facts are helpful at this juncture.

Enough is enough. Patients need to get their placards out too.

I’m afraid the doctors are going to lose all sympathy if they continue with these lengthy strikes which don’t appear to be having any impact on wage settlement but a huge and damaging impact on the people they are supposed to care about - the patients. They’ve lost my support, I’m afraid.

Well it all becomes clear! Back in October I suffered a perforation of the bowel was really quite ill when I made it to hospital. On release I was told I'd get an appointment to follow up with the surgeon in twelve weeks. Well that came and went I didn't think it would however after feeling poorly before Christmas I went to my gp. I'll email and get your appointment for ASAP said my gp. Appointment came for 29th February I was disappointed but thought hang in there it'll be here before you know but the day after getting the appointment a text came through informing me the clinic had been cancelled and I would hear back 'in due course' still not. I now know why they must have known back in the 1st week i
of January there was going to be another junior doctors strike and when it was happening - I'm beyond upset. Looks like my appointment won't take place for months! Sorry to vent!
