Does anyone know anything about the Health care for seniors in Canada (Toronto)?
My husbands sister is in her early 80s, registered blind, disabled, living with her son and his wife and 3 kids, one of whom has learning difficulties.
They get a carer in for 1 hour, twice a day. This seems inadequate to me, but I have no idea how the system works over there.
Maybe some of you have experience of this.

'Through this program, you receive coverage for eligible prescription drugs, dental services, vision care, medical supplies and equipment. You also receive benefits related to medical travel such as meals, accommodation, travel and ambulance services. You must apply for the Extended Health Benefits program.'

One hour twice a day , 2 hours, is more than most would get here Susytish.
Your sil is living with son snd family so not alone and as far as local authorities are concerned would not need the assistance that those on their own would.
Are you worried about her?

Knitandnatter google has taken you to a program available only in the North West Territories.

susytish I think health and social care in Canada is organised by province.

This information is from December 2021 for Ontario www.ontario.ca/document/guide-programs-and-services-seniors

You would perhaps do better to ask on a discussion forum for Brits living in Canada/Ontario who could signpost you to official sources of information. If you use Facebook, there is a group for Brits in southern Ontario, which includes TO, for example, and the BritishExpats site has.a Canada board britishexpats.com/forum/

Oh, I do apologise Siope; I noticed that the post was sitting in the Unanswered box and thought I would respond to give it some 'air time'.
I shall now go and brush up on my Canadian geography grin

I don’t think you need to apologise, and certainly not to me. I think it’s always lovely to try and help others.
