For the support, understanding and sharing of mental health issues.
All are welcome. We treat each other with kindness.

HVDY Aw Chubby Chops sounds a bright little girl! They can be so funny at that age-a real delight. So glad she is bringing you all so much joy. My little GS used to love the ball pools when he was younger.
Own fault about painkillers, I usually have to take them all.
Mint green nails -and I'm still dithering about having my ears pierced again(they closed up yrs ago). Think I'll go for it.

Wyllow We will always be hanging in there with you. You will come through this . We care. Sending love.

nadateturbe Mon 08-Apr-24 23:06:46

I just realised I wasn't much comfort Doodle. I just meant it's natural to be scared, but as others have said, your surgeon knows what he's doing. We all Google, I do all the time, and we aren't very objective about it. Hope you have a good sleep tonight.
Will answer others tomorrow.
Goodnight everyone, hope its a peaceful one xx

My nephew apparently went back to work (in a factory) last week, despite having had Chemotherapy and radiotherapy for brain cancer recently. My brother rang me 1/2 hour ago, said he's now in the Critical Care department, with heart failure, and is not expected to survive the night shock

Ellie Anne Mon 08-Apr-24 23:23:28

Safely home. I wish I could wave a magic wand to make things better for dd. I am sad. Doodle you are still in my thoughts.and others who are suffering. But still you care for others.

Wyllow3 Tue 09-Apr-24 00:01:43

Night night kind BD's xx

nadateturbe Tue 09-Apr-24 05:39:41

HVDY I'm so sorry to hear this. x

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 09-Apr-24 07:36:36

Nephew died at 1am sad. Only just over 3 months since his diagnosis, so at least he hadn't suffered for long.

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 09-Apr-24 08:29:25

It's pouring with rain, and it's cold, here. A friend is picking me up for (birthday) lunch - I feel I should see my brother, but I rang him and he said he doesn't want to see anyone. Not anything I can do, really. Hope everyone's day goes ok x

nadateturbe Tue 09-Apr-24 10:02:48

So sad HVDY. Very sorry. Your brother must be feeling very bad, but you have done your best. Go and enjoy your lunch. x

Sweetpeasue Tue 09-Apr-24 10:30:50

Really sorry HVDY. Perhaps your brother will be more open to talk later, you have done your best. It is so tragic . x

Whiff Tue 09-Apr-24 11:13:27

HVDY sorry to hear about your nephew dieing. No parent wants to outlive their child so can understand why your brother doesn't want to speak to anyone.

This isn't the same but my mom had her first cancer same time as my husband she could never understand why she lived and he died. She said she would have given her life for his . She never did understand until the dementia took hold and she forgot him .

Your brother is probably thinking the same why him and not me. He will let you know when he can face people. He knows you are grieving as well and you love him and your nephew. Men tend to clam up where women want to talk. It's the old thing men think they have to be the strong one but we all know it's woman who are stronger . Condolences to the whole family.

Scaredycat Tue 09-Apr-24 12:10:21

HVDY- I am so sorry to hear the sad news about your nephew.
Your brother must be devastated really but sounds like he isn’t able to show much emotion. Poor man. You have tried your best but it’s not easy to help some people.
Enjoy your lunch and love the colour of your Birthday nails!!
We wear Skechers all the time trainers, boots, summer shoes and like Candy go to an outlet store.
Nadateturbe- you are right we all use Dr Google- trouble is we always focus on the worst scenario we read . But it’s just not possible any more to have a chat with the GP like we used to.
Hope you are having a better day..
SweetPeaSue
I think most of us are not as we were but it’s learning to live with the “new” us that is so hard. I really do try and live for the day - so many people don’t have that chance. You are so good at making the most of the good days and getting out to enjoy your surroundings. Continuous erratic pain like yours must be so hard to deal with but you do- you are a fighter although you don’t always feel like one. Have the increased ADs helped at all?
EllieAnne- glad you’re home safe and pleased you decided to go after all. Please don’t stress over what you,ve said - she will have been happy for you to be there and know how much you care.
Yes it’s difficult when you know your AC are unhappy but all we can do is be there for them and love them unconditionally.
You are a kind loving Mum.
Candy- well done to your GS and his team. As you say he’s loving it that’s the main thing. He is learning lots of Life lessons too.
Oh I know that sinking stomach feeling when your Son goes back- it’s horrible. I,m glad the ADs help you- they do me too.
I only see my Son once a year- thank goodness for Face Time.
Wyllow- wish there was more help for you. We are all behind you and hoping for better days on the horizon. Hugs.
Doodle- thinking of you and DH and hoping tomorrow goes smoothly for you.x

Ellie Anne Tue 09-Apr-24 12:45:20

So sorry to hear about your nephew hvdy. It will be hard to support your brother because of the way he is. You can only offer and leave it up to him if he accepts help or not. Xx

Doodle Tue 09-Apr-24 13:07:58

So sorry to hear about your nephew HVDY. What a shock for you all.
Thanks everyone for your good wishes. Be back soon. x

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 09-Apr-24 15:37:07

Thank you, all. I'm not grieving - actually, I hadn't seen my nephew since before I had my stroke (it'll be 3 years in July), and at the time, he didn't ring my husband once in the 6 weeks I was in hospital (nor did my brother). I'm sorry for my brother, and I rang him when I got in from lunch, said I'd go round and see him, but he said he doesn't want to see or talk to anyone. That's the way he is (like my dad), so I'll leave him for now.

Had lunch with my friend at our usual garden centre cafe. The weather is horrible. How's everyone else?

EllieAnne It's always a worry when our children are unhappy in any way, and all we can do is be there for them. You're a good mum.

Sweetpeasue Tue 09-Apr-24 17:20:45

HVDY I don't see my sisters AC either- I think that's not uncommon when they don't live locally and grow up and have families. Send birthday and Christmas cards and get updates from sisters now and again. It seems so final when a relative dies though especially those younger. Reminds me of how fleeting our lives are.
The weather is miserable here too- poured down. Glad you got out for lunch.
Saw psychologist this morning , was so doped up nearly didn't get there. I could hardly think straight but didn't want to not turn up last minute.
Someone asked about my tongue. Well it's not bothering me and I'm not biting on it as lump seems smaller, so called hospital to postpone excision procedure which was in a weeks time.
EllieAnne It's so hard when any of our AC are hurting or struggling with problems. It's really difficult to know what to say at times as they sometimes don't want advice, as such. I think all we can do is be there if they need us. I'm sorry your DD is having a bad time -you must be so worried. I hope things get better for her soon. As HVDY says, you're a good mum.

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 09-Apr-24 17:55:29

SweetpeaSue It's a shame, as nephew and DH used to work together (a couple of times, at different factories) and nephew used to be in touch with DH quite a bit, called here to borrow tools/ask advice about cars, etc. That all stopped when I went into hospital. We should try to make the most of family and friends whilst we can. I'm glad you saw the Psychologist, despite feeling doped up. You feel able to speak freely there, don't you? It's good that your tongue is healing so well.

Son2 just nipped round on his way home from work, but will call in tomorrow. My aqua aerobics friend called in, with a bottle of wine and a card, so that was nice.

nadateturbe Tue 09-Apr-24 20:15:38

Sweetpeasue sorry I haven't replied to your post yesterday. My eyes are sore.
Talk to you all later maybe x

Sorry im not up to writing much.
Ellie Anne you love your DD and hurt when she hurts. How we all long to take away the pain of those we love.
Thinking of you all. Big day for me tomorrow hope to be back with you soon.
I’ve included a link for the believers among us. Lovely song I think. Take care all xx

Sweetpeasue Tue 09-Apr-24 22:24:11

Scaredycat What kind and wise words ,thankyou. 'Learning to live with the new us' and 'living for the day' simple words but such a lot behind them and can be difficult to accept and do. We are constantly learning aren't we. Your post is inspiring. Every day is a new day. Yes, my raised dose of ADs is making a definite difference. They don't take away the problem but enable you to see more clearly. Thankyou.

Doodle Thankyou too for the song link. Words are extremely powerful and encouraging. I hope you feel ready and you can go in tomorrow with confidence that you will be looked after by the best.
You are not alone -at all. Please take time to rest and we look forward to hearing from you when you are fully ready . God bless.x

Evening
Just popped in quickly before bed. Sorry can’t respond to everyone personally now as I have to be in DD’s by 7.45 am tomorrow(not really a morning person!). Just to say good luck to you Doodle. I hope your treatment goes well and will be thinking of you. Also HVDY so sorry about your nephew and for your brother too. Love to everyone else. Take care. Speak soon. night night xx

Sweetpeasue Tue 09-Apr-24 23:55:07

Nadateturbe Please don't worry. Just realised you posted to me earlier. It must be so awful your eyes being so sensitive and painful. Hope you sleep better tonight too.x
