For the support, understanding and sharing of mental health issues.
All are welcome. We treat each other with kindness.

Oh I am shattered. It was lovely to see my SiL and her husband. They brought their little GD who is only two. She spent a lot of time rearranging fridge magnets with me. I love when children visit. And playing with Foxy. But my husband and BiL chatted separately to us and really I find two conversations across each other frazzle my brain. So I'm in bed (what's new?). But they are very cheerful which I needed to distract from thinking about my sons partner. I thought of her as a SiL and the family are all shocked and sad. They had been together ten years.
Scaredycat I won't give up yet. What paints do you use?
Sorry enough talk about me!
I'm sorry you have so many friends ill. Its difficult as we get older because health problems are more common and we don't have the amount of energy to help people that we would like. You can only do your best. But it's very sad.
Doodle I too am glad you are optimistic about your op. I hope Mr D is recovering a little today.

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 23-Apr-24 18:48:35

Doodle I don't eat pigs, either. DH has bacon every morning, which I loathe the smell of. I had smoked haddock & spinach fishcakes, potatoes, veg. Then lemon tart. How are you? How's your husband?

nadateturbe Hope you had a nice time with your sister. Do you see each other very often? It's difficult when our AC split with partners we've liked (both mine did that), but then we just want them to be happy in the end, don't we? I hope your son will be.

ScaredyCat Not spoken to son yet, but we'll see him tomorrow - he's bringing Chubby Chops here whilst he takes DIL to hospital for a routine check-up. It's true, we just have to take one day at a time.

Visited SIL today, she was fine (obviously still confused as usual) and chatted. She's got the beginnings of an ulcer on her ankle (about 10p sized), which I reported and the DN will examine tomorrow. Visited my brother, too. The funeral is set for 9th May (nephew's already been gone 2 weeks). It took me 1 hour and 10 minutes to get home! 8 miles! There was a tram broken down on the tracks, so all the traffic was backed up. Hope ALL BDers have a relaxing evening x

Scaredycat Tue 23-Apr-24 16:31:11

Doodle- Hope DH has improved again since yesterday.
Good to hear that you are optimistic about your Op- you have gone through so much. You have the kindest of hearts the way you always think of others . Hope you slept well last night and managing to eat regularly.
Wyllow- such a pity for,you not to feel able to talk with your family. Keep on keeping on - you,ll get there .We are all right behind you.
Nadateturbe- glad your neck discomfort has eased. Don’t give up on the watercolours - it’s difficult after using acrylics to be loose and not use too much paint isn’t it.
Enjoy the time with your Sister- does she live near you?
It’s so sad when your AC have a relationship breakdown especially if you were fond of the other person. I hope n time it will prove to be the right decision for your Son. We just want everyone to be happy don’t we.
HVDY- glad you had a nice meal together and that you feel better in yourself. Some coughs just go on and on don’t they.
Hope your Son enjoyed the stag weekend- no sore heads!!!
SweetPeaSue- Yay!! You got there safely. It sounds a lovely peaceful place- can you walk into Windermere from the cottage?
What a sweet noise to wake up to - the little lambs with their Mums. Have a lovely time and let the scenery and beauty work their magic.
Whiff- I hope you get to Lindisfarne- it sounds such an interesting and spiritual place. There is a wealth of wildlife in that area too I believe. I would love to see Puffins.
I think those mobility scooters are quite powerful aren’t they. I remember my late MiL shooting off across the road ( thankfully a quiet one) and nearly hitting a wall the first time she got on hers!!

So many people we know and love are not well at the moment- either mentally or physically. My head is a bit stuffed with it right now but it’s hard not to worry about them . Have to take one day at a time and do what I am able to help.
Love to allx

nadateturbe Tue 23-Apr-24 12:43:25

You've made it Sweetpeasue. Great smile.I've stayed in Windermere. It sounds idyllic where you are. Relax and enjoy. xx

HVDY can't eat lamb either for same reason.
Doodle tried watercolours yesterday, didn't achieve much. I admire people who can paint with watercolours.
Having a rest, DH sister coming at 2pm to bring DH birthday present for Saturday. Have not slept well, son in England has left his partner of 10 years, she is heartbroken. He has a new partner. Trying to put it out of my mind.

Doodle Tue 23-Apr-24 11:45:10

Sweetpeasue have a good time. I love the awake District so beautiful..Hope you can relax and enjoy it.
nadateturbe glad your neck is better. What did you do I. Art yesterday?
HVDY I’m the same about ducks. Having watched their antics on our river I can’t bear to eat them. How are you feeling today? Glad you enjoyed the meal yesterday. What did you have?

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 23-Apr-24 11:36:36

SweetpeaSue Glad you got there ok, despite your bladder pain (hope that's subsided). The place sounds beautiful - lambs (I haven't eaten lamb for 30 years, couldn't bear to after seeing them in fields). Enjoy your holiday

Sweetpeasue Tue 23-Apr-24 10:57:16

Doodle I do hope you both had a better night last night and your DH shows more improvement today. I don't know what to say that doesn't sound like the obvious stuff-I know you will be doing all you can to keep well yourself, in the circumstances, but I hope you can grab some rest when you can. It's good the antibiotics have started to help, thank goodness.
Yes the dizziness keeps happening after sitting for a while. My DGS sees his Dad a lot when he comes back from his rig work.

HVDY Glad you're feeling better in yourself bit hope your cough soon goes.

Hope everyone has the best day they can. x

Journey here was fine , thank goodness.
Bit of a prob as previous occupants took some keys but the gardener came and gave us some so now we have access to the lovely sheltered patio in garden. Bluebells are just beginning to come out in raised are at front.Lambs are skipping and feeding at back of house in field and lovely views.
Late start today because of bladder pain. Had a few tears but now pulled myself up by bootstrings. Hopefully pain will go soon and we might be able to go out and have a Wander in Windermere(sounds like title of poem) .
Take care all.

Wyllow3 Tue 23-Apr-24 00:30:38

Night night warm hugs BD's.

nadateturbe Mon 22-Apr-24 22:21:41

Goodnight everyone, hope it's a peaceful one for you xx

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 22-Apr-24 21:34:40

Doodle Glad the antibiotics are helping your husband. I was put on Amlodipine, after the stroke. I was told by my GP to stop it, due to swollen legs. Then GP put me on Lercanidipine, but that started the Vasculitis, so I was taken off that. My husband takes Amlodipine with no side-effects at all. I'm on Bisoprolol to lower my heart rate. Hope you and your husband get some well-deserved rest tonight.

nadateturbe Yes, I get very bored at home. Meal was lovely. Still coughing but I feel ok in myself, thanks. Hope you have a restful night. I'll be going to bed soon, too.

Hope ALL BDers get a decent night's sleep. x

nadateturbe Mon 22-Apr-24 21:17:45

There is a thread at the minute about effects of different heart pills and ones the doctor should avoid prescribing.

nadateturbe Mon 22-Apr-24 21:15:59

I'm OK Doodle thanks. Neck better. Got to art and in bed now. Contented.
HVDY think you were wise to give aqua aerobics a miss. I imagine you get bored easily at home. But at least you got out for dinner. Hope you enjoyed it and hope you feel better soon.

nadateturbe Mon 22-Apr-24 21:10:53

I'm so glad to hear your DH is responding to treatment Doodle and his heart rate is lower. I've been thinking about you both throughout the day. Sorry you both had a bad night. You have your own health problems too. It's a very difficult time. I hope you've had something to eat and are resting now. You need to keep your strength up. Still praying for you. Sleep well. Thanks for letting us know how you are. Hugs and much love xx

Doodle Mon 22-Apr-24 21:08:22

Sweetpeasue just caught up with the fact your DH banged his head the other night. Is he ok. You can often feel dizzy if you stand up too quickly.
Hope your DGS got a bit of the cake. Does he spend a lot of time with his dad?
nadateturbe glad your neck is better is it still a bit stiff?
Hope you’re sleeping a bit better too.
Ellie Anne have you been weeding again. Mits been sunny here today but cold.
Sleep tight all 💤

Doodle Mon 22-Apr-24 21:02:29

Whiff the nurses on DHs ward are very good they are all kind. He was on Amlodipine and so was I . Yes like you swollen feet and ankles, he’s on a different BP med now.
Not sure about my op till review but think it went well. Review in 6 weeks.
I have seen videos of Lindisfarne and it looks beautiful. Hope you enjoy it
HVDY hope you have a nice meal with the family.

Doodle Mon 22-Apr-24 20:42:09

Hi all DH and I both had a bad night last night for different reasons. Today seems to have gone a bit better. Antibiotics seem to be helping and heart rate has lowered. We are both still really tired. Another long day for me too,
Wyllow keep hanging in there x
HVDY are you feeling any better today. Have you been out at all.
Scaredycat your bat story made me laugh. 🤣. I would have been scared too

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 22-Apr-24 12:03:18

Doodle Hoping all turns out alright. Love to you both x

ScaredyCat That made me laugh about you having a teatowel on your head.

Whiff It sounds as though you've got some interesting ideas of things to do on your holiday. Hope the weather is decent for you.

SweetpeaSue Hope all goes well with you and your husband and that you enjoy a nice break away.

How's everyone else? I didn't feel up to doing aqua aerobics this morning, so have been doing a couple of (boring) things at home. Taking DIL and the children out for dinner this evening (Son2 gets back very late tonight from the stag do) x

Whiff Mon 22-Apr-24 05:57:36

Scaredycat your bat story made my laugh the thought of you with a tea towel on your head . At least you got it out. Where I used to live saw bats in my garden every dusk loved watching them fly around but I was always safely indoors.

Doodle sorry you are both having a very rough time. The worry about your husband can't be doing your health any good. Hopefully the antibiotics will do the trick and once mobile it might decrease the swelling. I know you said about your husband's feet and not liking sheets touching them etc. I hope the nurses are taking care of them and making sure they don't get sore. Has your husband ever been on Amlodipine? When I was on them my lower legs ankles and feet where swollen and the skin on my shins very red ,tight and shining. First thing the AF clinic nurses was taken me off it as they don't like heart patients on it as it causes swelling and water retention which strains the heart . It's for blood pressure. They told me they wished GPs wouldn't prescribe it. I was and still on Ramipril and never had any problems with it. Once off the Amlodipine I peed at lot but my ankles and legs went right down and could wear ankle boots. Plus my feet got slimmer..I can't wear socks so in the winter wear 40 denier tights under my trousers and 20 in the warmer weather.

Doodle are you completely recovered from your operation? Hopefully it has helped you. Thinking about you both .

I am no braver than anyone else but have been widowed 20 years so am very independent. Not meeting anyone on my holiday but want to go to Lindisfarne there is a bus which goes across the causeway so will find out the times . Hopefully if the weather allows I want to go on a boat and see what wildlife there is but only a 90 mins trip . There is a bus stops outside Paxton house or hall can't remember what it's called. Also want to go too Morpeth on the train. The premier Inn is at the harbour. Looking forward to exploring Berwick upon Tweed. But know I have to pace myself.

I tried a mobility scooter once when my son was 21 . Had gone shopping with him and my daughter she's 4 years older. So they said try one insist of a wheelchair it was a large shopping complex. Hadn't been on it 5 mins they both said stop and get off. I was a danger to everyone. Never tried one since. I just use my stick . The occupational therapist offer me a walker with a seat but said no . I can't keep in a straight line walking and veer off into fences ,walks and even up people's drive until I can get my body to stop moving . HPX is a very strange condition. My husband would have taken great delight in telling people he married a mutant . No mentioning it's a mutant gene in my brain receptors.

When our mom had radiotherapy after her second mastectomy my brother told everyone she had a tattoo she was 87. He didn't say it was 2 tiny dots to line up the machine.

Wyllow I hope you feel able to get out again soon even just for half a hour. Hopefully the warmer weather will help you to get out . And hope you can get in touch with the Quakers again as they where a great support to you.

Hope everyone else has managed to sleep and not in to much pain today. Take good care of yourselves. 💐

Wyllow3 Mon 22-Apr-24 00:22:05

I really appreciate thoughts on here - I'm not up to family or going out

Sweetpeasue Sun 21-Apr-24 21:29:49

Doodle I continue to pray for you both and thankyou for letting us know. Much love. X

Doodle Sun 21-Apr-24 20:57:16

Been at hospital 11 hours. DH has bad infection. Lots of antibiotics and meds to help heart, Bp and fluid retention. Sorry can’t post more, I need to eat and then sleep.
Take care all x

nadateturbe Sun 21-Apr-24 20:48:21

What a story Scaredycat. You had me laughing out loud. 🤣 I can just visualise the whole scenario. You stayed very calm.
