I make my own turmeric paste. Recipe on Foolproof living. Use Ceylon cinnamon.
Store it in silicone mould sheets with 208 pills per sheet. A batch will do about 500 pills.
Easily dissolved in a little hot milk with a drop of honey.
I take 3 pills a day and at 80 am pain free. I have osteoarthritis in hands and knees. I am aware of it but no pain.
Store pills in sheets in freezer.

Arthritis pain
(100 Posts)I am in constant pain like many other people and I know that exercise is recommended, if you have arthritis in spine hips and knees, do you find exercise helps. I try to walk for three days week and do seated exercise 2 times a week. I honestly find it makes no difference. I admit I only take paracetamol as opids have totally messed up my digestive system. Meds I take for heart and nerve pain can cause constipation but I have to take those. Some days I despair of what will happen to me as I get older.š
I have osteoarthritis in my hands and knees. I am 80. I am pain free. I walk 7000 to 10000 steps per day.
My medication , which I make myself ,is golden turmeric paste. It takes 10 mins to make. I then store it in silicone mould pill sheets.each sheet storing 208 pills. A batch usually makes about 500 pills. And I store them in the freezer.
I take 3 a day in hot milk with a little honey.
I have osteoarthritis in my hip which has now morphed from mild to moderate according to my latest Xray and the pain is definitely worsening.
I find Pilates has been the best form of exercise as it strengthens and encourages flexibility which is key.
The recent warmer weather helped too.
NanaTuesday Naproxen is a prescribed drug a friend of mine is taking it for Shingles pain.
After over a week of having a lot of pain in my knee and hand I found myself able to walk quite a long distance for several evenings last week. However today the pain is back. Iāve slapped on the ibuprofen cream, taken some co codamol and turmeric. It is raining today again. Iām going to start keeping a written record again to see what helps. I donāt understand why I have good days and bad days.

My hands, knees, hips and feet have been so painful last few months, nothing seems to help, it wakes me about 3 am and I canāt get back to sleep. I am a stone overweight but weak when it comes to food, sure if I lost weight it would be easier. My feet and wrists have swollen so much it affects everything I do. Know thereās loads of people much worse iff than me and I keep telling myself that.
When I wake up I listen to Jason Stephensons Get Back to Sleep quickly on utube. No idea why it works but it does. I can just eat and eat, there isnāt a stop button that says Iām full and should stop. At the same time I can decide to just not eat; Iāve got an obsessive personality. Lockdown did change my attitude towards food, though, in the I knew that if I had eg some KitKat in the house, if I ate all of them I wouldnāt be able to just go out and buy another. I do still have times when I binge on food but they donāt happen as often. I used to walk all the time but the arthritis means that I find excuses not to go out, especially when itās cold. Iāve been trying to use up lockdown stockpile food so havenāt been able to plan meals; Iāve been using up a lot of pasta sauce and, for some reason I donāt find pasta meals very filling. Iām away from home for the next nine days and am going to try to eat well and exercise. Touch wood my arthritis is much better today ( is that because itās much warmer?) and my dog, who has had a poorly foot, can now be walked again. Iām going to keep a record of what I eat and am going to do a fast each night, probably 14/10.

I think you must be my ā pain/ food / overweight twinā šš¤ā
I too suffer with OA in Knees ,Hands & Feet - I have fluid in my left foot & knee as well .
My DH has always been amazed that I can eat a meal the same size as his ( I think itās a normal size as his isnāt oversized š):
Since 2006 I have had knee wash outs, cortisone injections in both knees, NHS & private physio . My GP would prescribe Naproxen for years . I dislike taking medication š & was never going to be using it on a daily basis , so if I filled a prescription it just sat there . Glad now that
I never did as it is not a prescribed drug anymore .
Finally after months of trying to get an appointment I had another steroid injection in January ( my 3rd) it lasted until early April . Now last week after requesting another GP appoint i was refered to & have had a call from MSK Unit who will put me on āthe listā
It affects my daily life , I canāt walk my two pups for very long & keeps me awake , like others sunny days are the best .
My mantra , no chocolates, no cake, no gin ⦠whereās the fun in no gin š
Wishing you a better day š

It would be a huge help if people would take a weee bit of time to write names etc out instead of us guessing what the initials stand for, in this case, what is MSK????

I can totally relate nanny2507 having rheumatoid and osteoarthritis throughout my body . I really miss taking my dogs on long walks and the ability to move freely without pain. However, I have replaced the feel good factor from that with feel good in water š,my mobility is so much better at Aquafit than it ever will be on dry land, my Consultant has said he wishes all his patients would ātake the plungeā and give it a try .
I have arthritis in my hands, 1 wrist, back and feet. I am unable to walk or use my hands very well. I cant do any exercise what so ever. Its rubbish. I use a mobility scooter to take my dogs out or I'd go crazy
Due to arthritis in my spine I find walking painful so I go to our local leisure centre and use assisted exercise machines. They have really helped me regarding movement. I still find walking painful but other movement is much easier.

Itās a minefield isnāt it as youāre not supposed to take food that contains vitamin K if youāre on blood thinners, but they are foods like broccoli and parsley that are really good for you. My partner is on Apixaban so I donāt add turmeric to his food.
I do eat curries and any food with turmeric in the hope it helps! But doubt it has enough to really help the pain. But I donāt for a minute worry about itās affects on me because of the Apixaban. Yes also Vit k which I ignore. I take 4000iu of Vit D daily and some Vit K ro help absorption. This is really really important for immune system and especially Covid protection. Most people in northern hemisphere are Vit D deficient. And sufficient levels of Vit D help enormously to prevent Covid infection. Not discussed enough.
I have researched almost all Ayurvedic remedies and all are not suitable to take with any anticoagulant. Sometimes I feel like just giving up on conventional meds and taking real natural meds. I may do that if the pain and consequent disability continue apace!

My hands are extremely painful and getting worse. I was taking Turmeric tablets from Natures Best for about 4 years and they were really helping. Nature Best do several types but I found Curcusorb to be very effective. HOWEVER I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation 18 months ago and was started on Bisoprolol (BP Med) and Apixaban (anticoagulant). Being a nurse I decided to check these meds with Turneric. Wish I hadnāt! As one is not supposed to take Apixaban with any anti-inflammatory! Thereās no research into the effects of any of the alternative/herb anti inflammatories (why would there be, Big Pharma wouldnāt profit from people taking cheap easy to obtain meds). Note, none of the doctors I saw, cardiologists, gps, even asked me if I was taking other medication or herbs or anything and when I brought it up with them they said they didnāt know anything about possible interactions. So, at the moment I have chosen not to risk a bleed by not taking the turmeric nor any other and there are many available. But, and this was the reason I came here to GN, I am nearing the point at which I may have to risk it as the pain is so bad. I canāt hold a knife either ALLSORTS.
Aye Wishaw baths š, and once a week to Shotts baths also Zakouma66, good to hear that youāve experienced Wishaw Baths š
Brilliant, goood for you.
Wishaw baths? remember it well
Thank you, no wasnāt easy but the alternative Iām not ready to accept yet, honestly canāt believe the feel good factor generated by the Aqua Fit, 40 in the class and at least half over 60 and with various illnesses and ailments , lots of laughing and singing along to music, highly recommend to anyone who has access to classes

Havenāt posted for ages but thought Iād add my tuppence worth on this thread
I am 65, have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteo Arthritis, Sciatica, and Iām currently 12 weeks post breaking my Humerus bone in shoulder , Iām on long term meds for these and other conditions, combined weekly injections self administered, Methotrexate and Benepali for Rheumatoid, Lidocaine pain patches for Osteo and Sciatica, Co codamol 30/500 for pain and also Ibuprofen, all help in their own way, however, the game changer for me is as others have mentioned is Aquafit, canāt praise it enough, I canāt exercise on ādry landā but have a fab time 4 x weekly at our local Aquafit , over 60s pass in North Lanarkshire well worth the yearly Ā£65, Aqua also helps with mental health as the feel good factor is amazing and I have made many new friends and itās now my feel good, happy place. My Rheumatology consultant who I have been seeing for over 30 yrs is so pleased with me and said he wishes many more patients with the condition would do water based activities to help regain activity.Added bonus is weight loss, which in return eases pressure on my joints , a win, win for me.
Thats fantastic that you have been able to motivate yourself to do this exercise. Can't have been easy battling the pain and general misery of feeling rough.
Bumping this up

ah! Turmeric,, wish I could find a reputable a good pill of Turmeric with pepper? any recommendations please.
I make a paste with turmeric, ground pepper, coconut oil, cinnamon and ginger. I add cardamom because I like it.
I made a jar yesterday and I stir a spoonful into hot milk. Itās delicious and sort of savoury. The pepper and cinnamon donāt dissolve as such so you have to keep stirring it.

Iāve tried to add the link to the recipe I use (I hope it works, first time for everything!).
I enjoy a mug at bedtime and I know exactly what is in it, you apparently need fat and pepper to get the best out of the turmeric.
Iām going to look into some of the other suggestions in this thread, Iām at the āuse it or loose itā state of mind at the moment.
Interesting that it said not to heat it too much as the recipe I have says to simmer the mixture for 7 minutes because it needs heat. I make up a batch, put it in small containers and freeze it. Trouble is I tend to make it in a drink with honey which I shouldnāt do.
So sorry Allsorts. Itās weird how sometimes the pain and stiffness can be so severe and debilitating, and then it seems to recede and start up somewhere else!
I just wish that as much money and effort went into arthritis research as to some more āglamorousā illnesses.
Osteoarthritis seems to be a particular ācinderellaā illness. Perhaps because mainly older people are affected, not like other forms of arthritis.
Mine is bad at the moment, the worst is my hands, I cannot use a knife at the moment.
