Hiring a scooter sounds like a good idea hulahoop. I did just that a while ago, just to get me out and about. Keeps the spirits up.
Good luck

wine
That's good, hulahoop.
Whatever they do, at least it's the start if healing the rotten thing.

Update on ulcer I have appt for MRI and am waiting for appointment for vein mapping that sounds painful Gin!

Yes it is amazing how quickly things change. I banged my heel on a drawer that was not properly closed and it made a small wound right at the back where I could not see properly. I just stuck a plaster on it but in a few days it had made a deep hole which has taken months to heel and bi-weekly visits to the surgery to have special dressings applied. Feet are precious and need looking after. I am much more careful now, daily moisturise and massage and attention to nails. I just ignored them before.

If it's any consolation, I was told that ulcers hurting means that they are still at a fairly shallow depth, where the nerve endings are.
When they are deeper, they tend not to hurt.

I’m not sure if you have sought medical advice about the ulcer? I would expect you to be having it professionally dressed.

It is Grandmabatty I can't believe a small ulcer can cause so much pain it keeps me awake most nights despite having tramadol .they say these things come to try us it certainly is!

MissAdventure Thu 30-May-24 16:57:10

Thanks for letting us know, hulahoop

I know it's a blow, having to cancel your plans, but at least things are moving forward, as it were.

It really is better not to let these things slide.
Your poor toe, though! flowers

All the best - let us know how you get on.

hulahoop Sun 19-May-24 17:24:33

I have had antibiotics for a week I will try and get see/speak to nurse not hopeful on a Monday morning I am putting dressings on but it's difficult due to pain thanks for replies.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 19-May-24 16:09:31

The fact that the toe is inflamed is indicative that it is already infected. Please, please don’t delay.

MissAdventure Sun 19-May-24 15:59:58

Oh yes, you really do need a nurse to dress and care for it for you.
Please make an appointment (pronto!)

Georgesgran Sun 19-May-24 15:55:51

After a week in hospital, her ‘wound’ was dressed twice a week for best part of a year.

Georgesgran Sun 19-May-24 15:54:42

GSM is right. DD2 was admitted to hospital with sepsis from a ‘bit of a mark’ on her ankle. I will add that being disabled, she has little feeling from the knees down (and more),
I’d post the pics, but they’re seriously gruesome!
She was told had she not been seen that night, she’d probably not have woken up the next morning. A close shave.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 19-May-24 15:48:19

If you have an ulcer you should have it treated at your GP’s surgery. I had one on my leg following an injury and it had to be professionally dressed several times a week. It took a long time to heal. Don’t leave it - an ulcer can quickly become infected and it’s all too easy to end up with septicaemia.

hulahoop Sun 19-May-24 14:49:27

I have developed a ulcer on side and under little for I am waiting for a MRI the toe is also inflamed so can't stand on it the pain is constant despite strong painkillers I put padding on then struggle with any shoes fit flops etc has anyone had this and what did you do to stand without pain .
