Anyone had an exercise tolerance treadmill test?

Luckygirl - I drove my friend to and from one of these tests, because she wanted company. But unfortunately, I wasn’t allowed to go in with her. I waited for her - I can’t remember how long it took, but she was rather tired. If I were you, I would get a friend / family member to drive you there and back. Good luck

Meant to say, I waited for her in the cafeteria- it was a few years ago, so tbh I can’t remember how long the procedure. I don’t think it was that long - just enough time for me to have a coffee and sandwich .

I went to see my GP about heartburn and shoulder pain in 2016. Suspecting angina, he reffered me for a treadmill test with a cardiologist even though my ECG was normal. I was just asked to walk up a treadmill which was moving upwards at a slight angle at a pace slightly more than normal. I had to stop after only a few monents but made a full recovery after treatment and ongoing meds. I now walk the family collie 3 times a day up hill and down dale! Hope all goes well for you.

Had the test - they only kept me on it for 3 minutes as it became clear that I have ischaemic heart disease as well as AF. I am heartily pissed off - I am a non-smoker and non-drinker and I eat no red meat (have poultry and fish), eggs or cheese. I feel rather cheated .......
It has to be hereditary I guess.

I was just going to say I have supervised Thousands in my career, by the time I read to the bottom, saw your post as it's sorted now.
The team that supervise the test will report and it will be send to your ordering Consultant they will then plan the next stage for you.
Yes, it could run in your family, it might have jumped a generation who knows?

So sorry to hear this and it seems very unfair! However, it’s good news it was picked up and can be treated and monitored.

Visgir1 - thank you for your helpful post. I have been having private investigations as the waiting list here is off the wall - I am using my savings. The consultant was there at the treadmill test and I have an appointment with him next week. I am hoping there will be pharmacological options (as that goes via GP and is free) - any more detailed investigations privately are likely to be costly, but it is likely to be 6 months or more before the local NHS can do anything at all.

If I had not gone privately I would have been still waiting for an initial appointment and not been on the metoprolol which is helping keep the AF rate down.

It is very disappointing that the NHS is so reduced now.
