Statins and sleep

I know two males who suffered with sleep problems after starting statins, one kept changing until he was given one that didn't seem to cause the problem and the other just seems to accept it and be awake at various times in the night because he is afraid to stop taking them.

I know there has been a lot of discussion recently here about statins but nobody has mentioned the possible effect on sleep. I am now on my third attempt to find a statin that doesn’t impact my sleep. I get very vivid dreams and sometimes nightmares which wake me up, sometimes in a panic because they are so realistic. I already have problems with insomnia and this is making it worse. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this and how have they coped.
