For the support ,understanding and sharing of mental health issues. All are welcome. We treat each other with kindness

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 31-Aug-24 21:30:34

nadateturbe Sorry about your eyes. Hope you get on well at the clinic when you go.

SweetpeaSue I bet your aunt was glad to see you. Your plums sound good. Could you have them stewed, with ice cream? My pain hasn't been bad today - I changed the bed, did some washing, pegged it out, cooked dinner (will the excitement never end grin).

Wyllow3 Do you watch any box sets? I like The Office (old now but good), any of Ricky Gervais's shows, Breaking Bad, Shameless, and Blackadder (also old but good). I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

Doodle I'm glad you've got some good friends. Nothing will take away the pain of missing your husband, though, but at least you get to chat with other people.

EllieAnne Hope the weather is decent where you are and that you got out today.

ScaredyCat, Candy6, and ALL other BDers - hope your day has been good.

It's been a very long and boring day, but Son2 called in to see us and show off his tan grin. He showed us his holiday photos and gave us a voucher for afternoon tea at Thoresby Hall (a posh hotel) for looking after the cats smile. DIL and ChubbyChops felt a bit under the weather. x

Ellie Anne thinking of you and you too Candy

Sweetpeasue been busy today. Lunch with friend then knitting with friend. Out to lunch with three friends tomorrow after church. Sadly being busy doesn’t take the pain away it just distracts you from it for a while. I’m sounding very ungrateful because so many lovely people give me their time.
Aunt must be enjoying a busy day then with two trips out. Your plumbs sound nice. Could you make some jam or stew them?
Scaredycat your candle meant so much to me thank you.
Hope you’re having a lovely time.
HVDY food sounds lovely. I had mozzarella, basil and tomato wrap with chips and salad today. Really tasty.
Good your DGD is still with your son she will be more settled there. Glad she still sees her sister though.
Gremlin obviously knows a good place to come to for some tlc.
nadateturbe so pleased you’ve popped in. Hope your visit to the clinic goes well. Love to you too.
Oh Wyllow I’m so sorry. I wish things were better for you. Hope tomorrow is a better day.

Sweetpeasue Sat 31-Aug-24 19:48:51

Doodle Hope today hasn't been too bad for you.
DH does have 'spells' of reading sometimes but if he's doing sedentary things it's usually his painting or carving wood pieces.
HVDY My DH loves your GD's choice of gammon , egg n chips if we're out, though I'm being careful about buying healthy choices for meals at home because of his health . You have to have a treat sometimes though, especially when you're out. So glad your pain hasn't been so bad.
Nadateturbe It was lovely to see your post. I'm sorry your eyes are still a nuisance and I hope you get some helpful advice at the clinic. Hopefully you can still read books but it must be so hard when you have so many other limitations on what you can do. You must get fed up with it all. Thankyou for your prayers for us all- so thoughtful. x
Scaredycat Hope you're having a good holiday and the weather is kind. Oh yes- smell of butchers- yuck.
Wyllow Oh I'm sorry about your rotten day again yesterday. It will make for such a terribly long day when there's no one to talk to and you're stuck in the four walls all the time. Hope today has been a smidgen better and tonight you might find a film to watch or something. You are in all our thoughts and sending you a hug.
EllieAnne Thinking of you and hoping you might see some friends tomorrow if you go to church.
Candy The weather has been good here so hope you're getting the same at your caravan.

Took aunt out todaywhich pleased her and then her DGD was taking her out this afternoon. Back to garden and picking plums. Honestly there's a huge amount- been giving them away to neighbours and took some for my son( left them on doorstep then texted him).
Wish I could magic some to everyone here- they're Victorias and they're so sweet and juicy.
Hope everyone has had a reasonable day and has a peaceful night. Love to all and those not mentioned.

Wyllow3 Sat 31-Aug-24 00:04:09

Caught up with your days. some lovely kind posts to each other.

Good to see you in nadateturbe. And Whiff welcome back.
Just a very bad day, but thank you all for kind words.

Night night all xx

nadateturbe Fri 30-Aug-24 23:40:06

Sweetpeasue thank for your kind thoughts. Still having difficulty reading a lot on screens. Will mention it at glaucoma clinic in 2 weeks.
Sending love to everyone. x
I do still think of everyone and remember you in my prayers.

HowVeryDareYou2 Fri 30-Aug-24 23:02:54

Gosammer Have you thought of contacting RNIB? Helpline on 0303 123 9999 open 8am – 8pm on weekdays and 9am – 1pm on Saturdays

Email us at [email protected] or say: "Alexa, call RNIB Helpline"

SweetpeaSue GD1 had gammon, egg & chips, DH had roast beef, I had lasagne. GD had a chocolate brownie sundae, too. Glad you've had a decent day. "Winchester Cathedral" was by The New Vaudeville Band, 1966, but others have recorded it since then. I haven't had any pain! I haven't done anything though.

Doodle I'm glad you had a better day. Things are often better when the sun is shining, and it's been warm and sunny here. GD1 still lives with her dad, that won't change. She sees her mum perhaps once every 3-4 weeks, her own choice. She sees her sister (GD2) every Thursday, and alternate weekends. Hope you sleep well tonight.

ScaredyCat Gremlin came for food at teatime. I don't know why he hasn't got a voice, but I always leave fresh water for him. Hope you've had a good day.

Off to bed now, DH is watching some James Bond film (which I cannot stand). Love to ALL x

Scaredycat Fri 30-Aug-24 21:12:57

Evening all.
Doodle- I,m glad you went to the river with your friend- I know how much you loved going there with DH. So sorry for your sadness you are so brave. I,m pleased you liked the candle - it made me feel they were somehow together . What a wonderful place it is isn’t it.
SweetPeaSue- your DH does love being busy - I really think he does so well to keep carrying on with the things he enjoys.
I am all right with tech stuff as long as it doesn’t go wrong - then I freak out.
Yes there was a song about Winchester Cathedral but I think it was a one off by somebody.
Gossamer- Hello and welcome. You have so much to cope with so hope you will feel comfortable to share your feelings here. Always somebody to listen.
Wyllow- good news about the carer- yes the 2 week gap is long but maybe you could jot down a few things you,d like her to help you with when she comes back.
Now you have EllieAnne and me to walk with- wouldn’t it be nice.
We wish the ‘old’ Wyllow was back too but there are definitely glimmers of hope as HVDY says and she’s nearer than she was.
Glad you liked the photo - such a peaceful place.
HVDY- what a great name Gremlin would be- wonder where his voice went.
So glad the testing is working for your hip- makes it worth doing.
Hope you enjoyed lunch - and the dog and foxes like the Butchers bones. I remember the smell in the butchers when I was little- blood and sawdust yuk!!
EllieAnne - you have a kind heart - so nice of you to help your friends. I hope the young man manages to make a change to his life.
Whiff - I wondered where you were - so good to have you back.
Nadateturbe,Candy,Nanny,Allsorts, and everyone wishing you a peaceful night

.

Sweetpeasue Fri 30-Aug-24 20:49:59

Doodle Glad to hear your day has been better. You are certainly keeping yourself very busy indeed. If it's helping you at the moment that's the thing to do. I thought of you today when I was up during the night and feel so much for you . I hope you're OK and please keep coming in and saying how it is. I know you have your other friends at church and groups which is so good too.
Sending love and hoping you sleep well.

Doodle Fri 30-Aug-24 20:32:46

Ellie Anne that was such a kind thing to do. Hope the young man manages to improve his life.
Are you doing anything this weekend?
Scaredycat hope you’re having a lovely time.

Doodle Fri 30-Aug-24 20:31:17

Whiff I’ve just spotted you’re back. So pleased to hear from you. I didn’t like to mention that you’d been suspended so didn’t say anything much. Can’t understand why just pleased you’re allowed to be here again.
How have you been?
Wyllow we want that Wyllow back too but don’t brush over the fact you are posting more these days, I know it’s difficult to see a light at the end of the tunnel sometimes but don’t give up you will get there and we are always here with you x
Yes I wonder how nadateturbe is. Hope you’re ok if you’re reading. Be nice to hear from you.
HVDY must be hard resting when you really want to be out and about and active but if it’s helping then perhaps it’s worth it. Hope having Chubby Chops isn’t too much for you.
Thank you, yes today has been a better one. Been busy and the sun was shining.
Gremlin is a fun name for your stray. I wonder why he can’t make any noise.
Have a nice time with GD1 . Children always love getting new things ready for the school term. Does she still live with her dad?
Gossamer can’t imagine how hard that is for you. Do you have any help at home?
Sweetpeasue that’s good advice. Hope you have a peaceful weekend and your DH doesn’t overdo it. Perhaps he should sit down with a hook too. Hope he’s ok.

Sweetpeasue Fri 30-Aug-24 19:27:37

Gossamer Hope you managed to see my post to you- your name didn't come out in bold print-apologies.

Sweetpeasue Fri 30-Aug-24 19:25:36

Just lost my posts! Grrrr!

HVDY Hope you had a nice lunch with your GD1 . She must love going out with you and it's such a treat to have brand new stationary at the start of a new term. You're so kind to' your' animals - you sound like the Pied Piper who they're all drawn to. Glad your pain has been more manageable lately.
Wyllow I hope your day has been a little better. You must have noticed such a huge difference to the MH service you used to know. I hope there's a number you can ring at times of crisis and don't feel reluctant to do so. Even if no one can wave a magic wand , there's a lot of comfort sometimes , just to hear another person's voice when you feel alone and scared. Samaritans too can help. Glad your carer helps - hang on in there for that 2 weeks- it will pass and she'll be back again. Much love.
* Gossamer* It must be frightening experience to have AMD and feel scared of losing your sight. I'm so sorry you've lost sight in one eye. Please feel free to come here if it helps.
You may already know this but the Macular Society have support services on a helpline if you'd find it helpful to voice your fears. It's number is 0300 3030 111. Take care and best wishes.
Scaredycat Hope you're having a lovely time - you deserve it.
EllieAnne That song keeps playing in my head too.

Hope everyone has been OK today.
Pretty much the same as yesterday here. I don't feel like my days are very full of anything interesting to say tbh. Sunny day again and DH been nailing on felt to finish shed. I keep supplying the tea !
Did some washing and read my book and GN.

Gossamerbeynon1945 Fri 30-Aug-24 18:22:33

i am almost blind. Can only see out of one eye

HowVeryDareYou2 Fri 30-Aug-24 17:58:56

Whiff I wondered where you'd got to. Glad you're back.

How have all BDers been today? It's been 23 degrees here, really pleasant. Took Son1's eldest girl for lunch. Bought some beef bones from the butcher's (1st time I've ever bought anything from a butcher's grin), for Son1's dog and "our" foxes.

Whiff Fri 30-Aug-24 16:48:32

Ellie Anne didn't expect you to notice as I don't post everyday. But I have been glad every time I see you have posted.
Sweetpeasue I broke guide lines and got reported. Never want to be suspended again .

I will be back with my rambles 🤣.

Sweetpeasue Fri 30-Aug-24 16:42:41

Oh Whiff - don't know what happened but so glad you're back. Xx

Ellie Anne Fri 30-Aug-24 16:33:32

Didn’t realise that you were not on..I have times when I don’t feel able to post . Welcome back.

Whiff Fri 30-Aug-24 15:58:50

Doodle thank you for the new thread. As you can see I have been let back on GN. It was horrible not being able to post. But will catch up with you all.

Ellie Anne Fri 30-Aug-24 09:16:33

I think there is a song . It’s going around in my head.
Yes the young man did appreciate it. He gets out in October and we are hoping that he can sort his life out .
Welcome gossamer. We are a very mixed bunch here but friendly.

HowVeryDareYou2 Fri 30-Aug-24 08:04:48

Gossamerbeynon1945 Are you getting any help for your pinched nerve? Do you live alone or with someone? Please come back, we will listen.

Wyllow3 We all want you to feel better and happier. I see a glimmer of the "original" Wyllow3 - she's in there and will, one day, be back. Koko.

It's a bright morning, we're seeing GD1 later, going to take her for lunch and get her any stationery things she needs for school next week. Hope ALL BDers manage to have a decent day x

HowVeryDareYou2 Fri 30-Aug-24 07:56:39

Doodle The stray cat (I refer to him as Gremlin) came last night. He doesn't make a noise, which is odd grin. I didn't really have any pain yesterday (I was sitting about all day). My hip is definitely getting better with all this rest. I'm sorry you had such a sad day. Keep posting, as much and as often as you feel like. I hope today will be better for you.

Wyllow3 Thu 29-Aug-24 23:57:00

Yes the carer is going to help me get a haircut. HVDY. Maybe more. The 2 week gap will be very hard as the MH cover is poor.

That was a very early start! I’m glad the parking was good and the tests done promptly. A nice meal today and I’m sure chubby chops would be much enjoyed by some of the regulars.

Scardeycat that was a lovely photo and candle lighting, beautiful cathedral. Definitely feet up after the cathedral and hope you sleep well.

Sweetpeasue thank you for what you’ve said! I hope the new printer works well, it’s nice for DH to have something “arty”. Must be so hard to see him as you describe. He did well on the shed and glad you caught some sun.

Ellie Anne - and I would join you too, how nice of you to say. Well done on your helping friends today and I’m so glad to read activities starting up.

Doodle special hugs for your emotional day today. And you are not upsetting us, please keep telling it like it is.

Hello Gossamerbeynon1945 and welcome.

Wondering how you are Nadateturbe

Saw MH nurse today, didn’t feel it helped a lot, I really am struggling nearly all the time as I’ve described before, its unrelenting, oh wish the days would come back when the original Wyllow came in and chatted a lot.

Sweetpeasue Thu 29-Aug-24 22:10:03

Gossamer So sorry you are going through a bad time with your health. It must be so worrying for you and I know it can cause such anxieties. Feel welcome to post here and I hope you have further support from friends and family.
Scaredycat Thanks - I've never been to Winchester Cathedral, though I seem to remember a song about it. Hope you have a lovely break.

Doodle Thu 29-Aug-24 21:42:57

Gossamer I’m so sorry that must be so difficult for you to cope with. Do you have any support at home? Pinched nerves are very painful. Have you any medication to help?
Scaredycat I have been to Winchester many years ago, lovely place and thank you so much for DHs candle x
