Strep infections going around here - not sure which variant, but dgd wasn't well for around 3 weeks until throat swab done and antibiotics prescribed.

Just a quick note, I should have said my test kits were new and had long sell by dates, so I don't know,,it's anybody's guess !

I can remember looking at the expiry date on the tests I had in 2021 and thinking that's years away. And of course now they are well out of date. That could be the reason people are getting negative results.

Just a thought but my friend and her husband are really ill with Covid at the moment but when they tested with the tests they already had they didn't work so bought some new ones and they tested positive within a few minutes!

I had Covid a little while ago, started feeling much better but now I have joint pains and sharp twinges in joints. I was wondering if it's Long Covid or even polymyalgia rheumatica but perhaps it's another virus.

I have it now, terrible cough with sputum but not infected. I have been taking paracetamol capsules as I felt very fluey and have been going to bed for a couple of hours in the afternoon.

Well Thank you for all your replies, it certainly sounds as though a few of you are experiencing this horrible germ.

Nannee 49, I'm sorry you are suffering similarly, it's horrible enough having Long C isn't it without feeling it's happening all over again.

Pascal30, Sorry you were unwell. the difference with me is I haven't had the cough in fact I seem only able to fake a cough and that is not clearing my chest.I too think it could be a form of covid that is not showing up on normal tests.

Cossy, yes I have definitely had those symptoms, bone aches, nausea, dizziness.

biglouis..Yes sounds like the same, didn't think antbiotics worked for viruses but glad they worked for you, probably cleared any chest congestion as that soon turns into treatable germs doesn't it ?

Auntieflo, Hope your DD and SIL are better now. Thanks for your good wishes.I'm not glad to hear people on here are suffering the same but I am glad to know that it does seem to be a virus and not something ELSE that is assailing me !

I just feel 99% that it's a form of covid. Just have to try and wait it out then as it doesn't sound as though it would be much use going to Gp.

Thanks all for your replies, I appreciate them.

Auntieflo Fri 06-Sept-24 13:24:54

Not me, but DD and SIL had almost exactly that.
Hope you are feeling better now.

biglouis Fri 06-Sept-24 13:21:13

Yes - aching joints and bones as well.

I had a week of aching, shivering, headaches and generally feeling tired and unwell. Being self employed I just pushed ahead with things that needed to be done. Finally sent for some broad spectrum antibiotics. I began to feel better after I finished the course so I assume it was a "bug" of some kind.

I’ve had a version of it, dizziness and feeling sick, very aching joints and bones and fatigue and bit short of breath

I've recently had the cough, sore throat and shivering.. lots of people down here have had it.. don't know if it's the same thing that you have had, but I was chatting to a GP socially recently and he said there is loads of covid about.. maybe this new variant just doesn't test as positive but actually is covid?

Nannee49 Fri 06-Sept-24 11:05:15

Yes, yes and yes rocketstop! It's horrible & persistent. Doesn't seem to be anything you can do about it except wait for it to pass only to be hit by another wave of it a few days later. My story is so similar to yours regarding early onset of long covid. Very distressing.

Hi,
I'm just wondering if anyone is suffering from this weird virus as I am.

I should say firstly that I have long covid, I got covid in the first ever wave before vaccines and any treatments. It has left me with a lot of complaints and some lung damage.I tell you this just for a bit of background info..

So sat 24th Aug I started to feel unwell, really bad bone and muscle aches and zero energy. two days in and started to feel worse . Husband also had same symptoms..tested:Negative.

A few more days and I was light headed, dizzy aching and now had a sore throat, husband same, tested again:Negative.

Sore throat now gone, but still a little light heaed but have compressed chest EXACTLY like when I had covid, but I'm not coughing so whatever is on my chest is staying there.I have read that there is a new virus going about and I shan't bother the GP if it's just that. So I suppose what I want to know is , has anyone else had this, and if it is NOT covid, then it really is a good mimic of it .
