Covid jab?

I’m undecided whether to have the Covid jab this year. I always have a bad reaction to it for a couple of days afterwards.
I shall have the flu one. Does anyone else feel the same?

Thorntrees Tue 17-Sept-24 19:30:49

Our GP surgery is not doing covid jabs this time around- no idea why.
We have booked for the flu jab but will have to wait until the NHS invite us to book covid after Oct1st.
Just hope we don’t have to travel miles to find somewhere but we will both have it as I’m vulnerable.

I will have the flu jab, but not covid. I would recommend having them separately, as when I last had them together I caught shingles and was very I’ll for a week - with a trip to the hospital

I agree, it is a personal decision, but those of us, who are having them, do not deserve to be mocked for doing so, as we have been previously.

I have a long memory.

No one deserves to be mocked, that was unnecessary. I do agree marydoll it really is personel choice.

I had it once in my thirties, I thought I was dying! I was crawling on my hands and knees to get to the loo.
It is indescribable.

... yes, that about sums it up!

Go on then, Netty63, tell us about the science you mention. Surely you would rather share it than keep it to yourself, and then we can all see what the problem is.

I too would love to know what this Science is.

My three consultants must be irresponsible, for they have all stressed how essential it is for me to continue getting the vaccines, perhaps they should check with Netty63' first.
That is strange that they know nothing about her (at the moment) unsubstantiated claims.
Now I am worried. wink

LOL!

I've noticed frequently that those who make such claims as Netty63 allude to some research or science that no one has ever heard of, nor which is ever revealed.

... you just get the warning smile.

I've got my flu jab booked but haven't been offered a Covid Booster even though the government Web site says I'm eligible.

I take whatever is offered as I also think if I catch Covid it will be a milder form if I have had the latest vaccine.

I have always had the flu jab and my feeling is people who think they have had "a touch of flu" dp not know what they are talking about. With a proper dose of flu if there was a £50 note at the other end of the room you would be in no fit state to pick it up.

There resteth my case!

I'm so glad you said that!

You often hear people say they've had "the 'flu" and you can tell from what they say that they really have not.

I've only had it once in my life - in my mid 30s - and never before or since, felt so ill. And it took a long time to recover from it, too.

If you follow the science behind the covid jab you wouldn’t go anywhere near it!

Presumably you're a scientist. What's your specialty?

rafichagran Tue 17-Sept-24 17:06:19

I think Biscuitmuncher is getting a hard time. Surely it is her decision not to have it, dies she deserve some if the sarcastic comments.
I have had covid jabs to date, but will not have more, although I may have the flu one, not certain yet.
I do test every time I go out with one friend as her Mother has cancer and I have a conscience.
I still think it is a personel desition, it seems to me some very respectful, grounded posters become very different as soon as covid is mentioned.

I am having what they give me. If it wasn't important the NHS would not be paying for them to be given to us.

SaxonGrace Tue 17-Sept-24 16:09:10

I’m with you there, my daughter is a Dr of Microbiology, she and the majority of her colleagues haven’t had any Covid vaccines.

SaxonGrace Tue 17-Sept-24 16:07:43

I’ve never had a flu vaccination, I had the first two Covid jabs but no more.

Parsley3 Tue 17-Sept-24 15:44:52

Agree, Marydoll. I recall Bm's posts about the vaccines. It's a pity she doesn't test as then she can confidently backup her claim never to have had it.
Funnily enough I have just tested myself as I was feeling under the weather and meeting friends. Negative, thank goodness.
It is prudent to make decisions about vaccines based on adverse reactions but not on crazy conspiracy theories.

sazz1 Tue 17-Sept-24 15:31:33

I'm too scared to have any vaccine now after 3 covid vaccines. I passed out unconscious on day 3 after each injection. I think I have more chance of dying from passing out crossing the road, falling down stairs, or driving than of dying from covid. All 3 episodes came completely without any symptoms beforehand and the first I knew about it was when I opened my eyes and found I was on the ground. Never ever fainted before or since in my life. So I'm definitely not having any more.

Aldom Tue 17-Sept-24 15:21:02

Good post Marydol I totally agree with you.
I've had all the vaccinations and had Covid twice. Been quite ill both times, but how much worse it might have been without the vaccinations.
My daughter (NHS) has had all the vaccinations, but has had Covid four times. Extremely ill the first time, very ill subsequently. Again, how much worse without the vaccine.
Frankly I get upset with people who are not vaccinated, yet expect NHS staff to treat them. Staff are frequently in close proximity to the patients and pick up Covid from their patients, in spite of wearing masks etc.

Marydoll Tue 17-Sept-24 14:52:40

Totally agree, Mollygo.
All through the Pandemic, Biscuitmuncher kept us informed of her refusal to have the vaccine.
She seems proud of her stance.

If she is not testing, she could be infecting those of us, who are immunicompromised.

Mollygo Tue 17-Sept-24 14:45:48

Marydoll

As you say, if you don’t test, you don’t know and if you refuse to test, you don’t know either.
We have neighbours who’ve never had the vaccine but when they were quite ill towards the end of the outbreak, they were adamant it was flu.
It’s like measles. If enough people have the vaccine, it protects those who are unwilling.

BlueBelle Tue 17-Sept-24 14:38:24

Need to thank us all for keeping you healthy then Biscuitmuncher Bit if an arrogant sounding post

Sarnia Tue 17-Sept-24 14:36:31

Like the OP I have a few 'off' days post Covid vaccine jab. However, a US study into reactions to vaccines says it is a positive sign if you don't feel too well because it means your antibodies are getting stronger. My family always tell me not to bother but I do because a friend of mine, much younger than me, has Long Covid and the awful experience she has had over the past 2 years keeps me going back to have my jab.

HeavenLeigh Tue 17-Sept-24 14:31:31

Won’t be having it nope
