I am stunned to read that Sir Chris has stage 4 terminal cancer.
The cancer of the prostate has spread to his bones.
His wife has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis. They have two children.
I can’t find the words to describe my sadness.

My family are shattered at this news, dd used to do revolutions at Manchester, says that Chris is the nicest kindest person. I now hope that this lovely family can form the protective bubble around themselves so that they can find peace and quiet acceptance as a family

So very sad

My goodness, that is so sad. ‘Troubles come not as single spies, but in battalions’ was never so true. My heart goes out to them.

Such tragic news

This is such heartbreaking news. Karmalady has expressed my own hopes for this amazing family. Life can be so unkind.

It is so sad and devastating for their young family .
I hope that they have really supportive relatives and friends .

It’s heartbreaking news, they have a hard road to travel. I hope they have a good support network around them.

I too was shocked to read this having had many scans myself this summer I have an inkling of how he is feeling. He is such a lovely man.

Awful news, am so sad for his family.

Such very sad news.

I'm just not sure that announcing the timescale of my demise would be the way forward for me. My fear would be, if you're a high profile person, will the media leave you alone now?

My thoughts are with his family, it's heartbreaking.

this is so tragic.. I can't imagine how they are going to tell their children..

Poor man. Poor family. Heartbreaking news.

harrigran Sun 20-Oct-24 09:31:40

I do feel for him and his family, it is a horrible disease and traumatises the whole family.
DH was in the same situation when diagnosed, aggressive and already spread.

He’s been having treatment since February and watching him commentating on the cycle racing I thought he looked well considering what he’s going through.

BlueBelle Sun 20-Oct-24 09:43:45

I don’t think he wants people to be sad I think he wants as much positivity as he can surround himself with
Good luck to the family and hopefully they can build on that circle of good vibes and encompass the children in going forward with him for now and then without him
What a lovely sounding man

Life can be so cruel at times. All he can hope for is a miracle cure.

Dreadful. My husband has prostate cancer but fortunately it was caught early. It's unusual for a man of Chris's age to get it which is maybe why it wasn't picked up. I wish them well.

maddyfour Sun 20-Oct-24 11:23:48

Very sad news.

JaneJudge Sun 20-Oct-24 11:26:21

I wish the family well flowers

Jane43 Sun 20-Oct-24 11:34:29

This is very sad news and for his wife to be so ill with MS is such a blow. There are many developments in cancer treatments at the moment and I hope they will work in his favour.

AGAA4 Sun 20-Oct-24 11:41:22

I am so sorry for Chris and his family. My DH died of this terrible disease as it had gone into his bones too. It will be very hard and I admire him for being positive and enjoying his life while he still can.

Kate1949 Sun 20-Oct-24 11:43:56

I wish they would bring in a screening programme for this very common cancer. There can be few or no symptoms.

Gummie Sun 20-Oct-24 11:45:26

I was shocked to see this in the news. He's such a lovely man with a young family. Heartbreaking.

Why does this happen to good people when wicked people get to live long healthy lives.
