Hi does anyone suffer from this it's awful. I suffer from tinnitus as in high pitched ringing but now pulsating like heart beat.

Yes. Me too. Pulsating tinnitus in my left ear. I don’t notice it too much when I’m going about my day, but it’s when I sit down at night or become suddenly aware of it. I don’t think I could train myself not to listen - it just happens naturally when other things distract me. I too have consulted Dr Google. However, I’ve had it for a few years and my ear hasn't dropped off yet ….

I found it really quite frightening.
Found myself checking my pulse, feeling my neck to see if I could feel it there, and counting the beats.

Oh, I just thought it was my heartbeat when I lay on my left side. If I move my head slightly it goes.

I am not going to Google.

I’ve had tinnitus since I went to a ridiculously loud production of Julius Caesar! Friends, Romans, countrymen, they destroyed my ears. The best advice I read was to think of it as the sound your force field is making. Turns it into a friendly and protective noise that you can then ignore.

Rocketstop it is very interesting that you mentioned statins. I had the same problem and told the GP they said it couldn’t possibly be connected until I drew their attention to the accompanying leaflet. I know many people who complain of a constantly blocked nose, so all in the same area. I changed to a different statin but still not convinced it isn’t making the tinnitus worse.

Yes, I do.
In fact, I have three different noises going on in my right ear: high pitched, low pitched drilling sound, and pulsating.
I have had tests, both MRI and auditory tests...all fine.
The deep drilling one, I have found that if I move my right jaw, it stops for a couple of seconds, before continuing as before... very strange.
I have one hearing aid that does help with the sounds, but not with the pulsating.
I do have odd days when I am stressed where I feel overwhelmed by it, but all in all, I realise that there is not much else that I can do. It is a matter of using all my energy, at times, to just ignore it...easier said than done!

Yes I have tinnitus Nanderin and it is hard to deal with but apparently very common. I think if you do have the pulsating kind it is a good idea to have your ears checked asap. Good luck

Indeed, and maybe check your blood pressure also? I have tinnitus too. ‘They’ say you can’t feel high blood pressure, but I definitely can and so can my sister, it is like a pulsating in my head/jaw/neck.

I knew someone who had part of a tune playing in his ear all the time.
Wish I could remember the tune now, as it was only the first few notes, but you could understand why it drove him to distraction.

Are you OK Nanderin?
Nothing from you since you started the thread.

I’ve had high pitched tinnitus for 7 years. I was discovered to have some hearing loss back then, so had MRI for acoustic neuroma, all fine. Earlier this year the tinnitus worsened and I thought I’d see an audiologist. Turns out my hearing loss had got worse. I’ve been fitted with two brilliant NHS (free😊) hearing aids and bizarrely I don’t hear my tinnitus….how good is that?? Hearing aids may be the answer, mine can be adjusted on a phone app and have changed my life. Good luck x
