Don’t be too brave Travelsafar. It’s very early days, so keep the pain at bay. You should take the drugs regularly so that you have enough in your system. The nausea etc could be the after effects of anaesthetic.

Hi everyone thank you for the good wishes. The pain is much more this time unfortunately. Last time I was up the next day and doing exercises. I was in hspt till Saturday evening then sent home. Slept quite well but think because I was exhausted!!! Today I am feeling nauseous and have no energy. I can't eat and to be honest don't want food. I've been given oramorph and 30mg codiene for pain but I think they are making me feel really rough. I'm hoping I will be brighter tomorrow as I've not taken the oramoph today and I've saved the codeine for bedtime. Will let you know how I am. 😊👍🏻

Flur I am unsure what good steroid injections would do.

Susytish, I was warned not to have steroid injections before my tkr, I think they slow down healing

11 weeks now for my knee. I have been walking and pottering about happily but forget to do the exercises as often. It’s so much better, none of those moments that make you gasp out loud! My opposite hip is now very painful so my poor knee is having to take the strain. It aches more this week and in different places. Perhaps a bit more rest is called for.

grammargran yes, it’s 18 weeks tomorrow for me. I’m definitely losing count of the weeks, I had to get my diary out & count the weeks! Just about back to normal now thank goodness.

travelsofar you should be out the other side by now! My server’s been down this morning and I’ve only just picked this up. Hope all’s gone well, I’m sure there’s no reason at all why not, please let us know how you’ve got on. Coming up 18 weeks now from mine (beginning to lose count, am I right Redcar?) and I feel I’ve almost bonded now. I’ll be honest, I doubt the next week or two will be the best of your life but, oh my days, you’ll be so glad you did this! Onward and upward, gal!

grammaretto I think 15 years is the expected life of a replacement hip, but my late mother in law had a replacement when she was 62, and she died at 94 still with the same replacement!

I expect you are back from your op now travels. Hope it’s all gone well . You will be recovering now so take time to rest and keep in touch with us with your news.

Morning all am sitting in hospital gown with labels on my wrist and ankle and a big arrow on my left leg.
The day is here for my HR wish me well please.🙈🙈

Nannytopsy pain on the outside of my right hip during the night only hence I think it is OA as I have it in the groin on both sides but doing specific things like getting in and out of the car. My TKRs are enough \+ metalwork in one ankle. I have had enough surgery.

Charleygirl if the pain is on the outside of the hip, it might be bursitis. I have that as well as osteoarthritis so I am b…..ed both ways!

I put light washing out for an hour or so, and it dried well. Then my king-sized duvet cover and I managed 5 minutes before there were a few drops. The drops did go, and the sun appeared, but it is cold now.

I obviously did not check before I sent it because this machine has better ideas, such as ringing the surgeon and not the surgery.

Just back from a long walk in the hills and after a bite to eat left the building just as hail started pouring down. Little balls of cold snow. Got home and the sun is shining.

Morning Charleygirl, yes, you’re right. We’re a stone’s throw away from Cheltenham and woke to snow coming down quite heavily. It’s just stopped but it’s par for the course, the races usually manage to change the weather and bring chaos in their wake. Usually avoid Cheltenham like the plague, much prefer Gloucester with its lovely docks area and magnificent cathedral. Sorry to hear of your pain, have you been overdoing it? It’s easily done at our age (and I’ve got a couple of years on you). If I sit too long, I’m still very stiff for a few minutes after in spite of being more active.

It's great so far though I'm still walking a bit awkwardly and my back aches often.
I shall go to the gym again this afternoon and perhaps go to yoga tomorrow. Gentle exercise only.

I could not wade through that, I would prefer to watch paint dry.

It is so cold in London and about to get colder. Apparently, snow has fallen at Cheltenham, so I do not know if the racing will continue. I do not watch it, but many do.

I think my memory phone mattress is contributing to my hip pain as it is so much better when I am out of bed, although not entirely cured. I would like my hips to see me out, and at 81, there is a fair chance. I would have problems coping on my own, although I am very independent.

Sorry susytish I cannot help you. It does make sense you finish the steroids before major surgery is done.

I have not read the thread I don't want to live in, but it sounds as though I should stay clear.
