So I am now on the list, since mid December. Admissions tell me there are eight people in front of me. Anyone have any idea when I might be operated on. Consultant not sure. He only operates twice a month. I am I so much pain and my life is becoming so limited. My DH has to help me in so many ways, dressing etc, opening tins. I also don’t sleep much.

So sorry to hear of your wait. When I had my shoulder replaced the Surgeon remarked that he had done five shoulder ops that week, however, this was a while ago. I hope you hear something very soon

Oh dear that sounds bad. I do hope you can have your op very soon. Is it worth phoning again and asking for a cancellation?

Aveline I agree with you. I would also call the secretary weekly to find out where I was on the list.

Thanks. The admissions office asked me if I could come in a short notice in the event of a cancellation, of course I said yes!

I am still apprehensive about the recovery time, four weeks in a sling? I think I can take it off to shower? DH will help, but I know from experience that however kindly his intentions he remains quite insensitive as he has Asperger’s. It was difficult when I broke my ankle and was in the same position. Hopefully be back to normal within three months?

I hope all goes much better than you fear. If you give your DH crystal clear requests for help as needed I'm sure he'll rise to the occasion. Good luck.

I have a vague memory of carefully taking off the sling, holding the arm in that position and using a plastic bag to cover the shoulder, then a very quick shower. DH washed my hair over the sink. Otherwise a good old fashioned stand up up wash I find after ops you can get very creative with the washing!

Drench wipes from Amazon were great after my various ops.
