I had one on my face last year and it was treated with Efudix (or similar spelling) prescribed by hospital dermatologist. It took several weeks but has completely gone.

I'm going to try to start with a month long treatment regimen and then see the results, maybe later switch to a prevention regimen. Some people use this option quite successfully

Hi nil234/ Not like yours, your spots are different from the ones I've seen there were tiny, pink, little visible spots, red dots on the skin, but your spots are not small, they are like about to merge into one big one, you wrote that they started getting bigger. And the cheek? Don't take the risk. You need a treatment regimen. use the cream only on the affected areas, I think Regencorr should suffice

I noticed AK on my nose, I went straight to a dermatologist and he confirmed it and I had cryotherapy there and then. I was not about to risk the squamous cell carcinoma that could follow, small chance but still a risk

I have a white smooth patch now but that is a small price to pay. I went privately and was seen in a week

I'm glad you're doing well. My doctor told me that the ears, eyelids and nose are the most problematic areas. And after treatment, for example in clear, sunny weather, it is better to cover your nose with a plaster and to put a thick layer of sunscreen on the ears. It's not easy to follow recommendations like these, but I guess we have to

The derm I was treated by in the past prescribed Diclofenac and said let's try it maybe it will work.
In the beginning before the diclofenac i had little noticeable little spots on my nose and I thought they would go away, but I started to itch a lot. After stopping the diclofenac the redness and peeling on my cheek became more severe and the spots on the nose got bigger.
I asked the doc what was going on and he told me to just stop the diclofenac and take a break.
I have seen many examples of people who cleared their skin with Regencor at the first signs of AK and the aK spots, some were a little shallower than mine. The prophylactic regime was enough for them, so I want to try this option

I think your doctor told you you had early signs just to avoid scaring you. Im not a doctor to say exactly, but from the condition of your skin, you have a developing actinic keratosis, not early signs. He's right you need a treatment regimen of Regencorr- not a prophylactic one. Those who use the prophylactic regimen which is a facial cleansing with Regencorr, remove spots, well, not more than 1 or 2 mm, small red dots, the beginning of peeling and so on. The main thing is to treat what you have but why apply cream all over your face? Rub only where there is redness, flakiness and so on and the cream may be enough

Hi I have reappeared actinic keratosis on my face and hands and two keratomas. Please advise me some kind of non-irritating keratolytic, I need to prepare the skin before the treatment, clean it from dry crusts and peeling and after I will use a treatment cream. I have dry sensitive skin.
Salicylic ointment won't work for me I've read about it, it's very aggressive. I have not tried lactic acid yet I do not know what to expect from it. What should I choose? Any advice is welcome

I have read on oncoforums that if there is AK flaking, besides keratolytics it is effective to apply a cream under a film. Put the film on top of the cream applied to the skin for about 3 hours, you can do less or more try doing that. I have a different problem. I have consulted several times with doctors and I am diagnosed with the initial form of AK, that I am just having signs. I will also be treated with Regencorr, but I absolutely do not realise what is written in the instructions. As far as I realised, there are two regimes of use: treatment of AK and prevention. I have an initial form of AK and I can't decide whether I should use the treatment regime or the prophylactic one will be enough?
My current doctor said I should take the treatment regimen. But in this case it will take three times as much cream and will take longer, because I will have to apply regencorr to my whole face

I haven't decided on a treatment yet. The doctor took a biopsy at my appointment and confirmed the keratosis. The doctor also offered to treat me with Efudex, but my husband talked me out of it, as he has experience in treating basal cancer. I don't have such an advanced form that I need chemotherapy, even if it's topically. I don't have scabs on my face or hands, from the description it looks like yours. I haven't heard anything about Regencorr, I don't know. I work a lot in the garden, in the hothouse, the season is coming up and I haven't even started the treatment. I haven't decided what to do.

Two years ago I took a course of Efudix. The doctor prescribed a threeweek course of treatment but I was only able to complete two weeks I had sideeffect , nephritis and cystitis ive never had that before. The doctor told me it was because of Efudix. In general Efudix removed a little bit of actinic keratosis but not completely and the problem came back.
Now I have started a course of treatment with Regencorr, but the difficulty is that before using it it was necessary to peel off the flaky skin. thereis some roughness and inflammation of the skin which I couldn't soften and remove with lactic acid, am starting the course of treatment as it is.
Did you have a biopsy when you were diagnosed? Are you on treatment?

Hello. Do you have AK on new skin areas or on those where you had it before? Let me ask you what did you treat AK with before and what are you planning to use now? I'm having the same issue with my face and hands

Conski Tue 25-Feb-25 12:49:58

I have been advised that before starting a treatment, it is necessary to reduce at least some of the flaking so that the treatment cream can work effectively.
I'm trying a lotion with lactic acid, not a strong solution, I don't see any effect yet. There is a slight irritation.
I need to cleanse the skin and then start the treatment

I assume you are under medical instructions? Dr Google says there’s no way of removing this at home - only the use of prescribed topical preparations.
It would seem the best method of removal is by freezing.
