Thanks for your reply no i’m not sure what vein it is tbh other than it’s in that area. I realise it could just be superficial but I guess I won’t know for sure until I see my GP.

Are you sure it’s a jugular vein? Your carotid arteries are in your neck and are usually visible to lesser or greater extents - which is totally normal.

Does the vein you are worried about have a pulse you can feel? If so it’s probably your carotid.

Hello

I'm not asking anyone to diagnose, just maybe to calm my racing mind or share a similar experience, as I have made a gp appointment to discuss on Monday and I don't want to spend the weekend feeling stressed.

Unfortunately I do have Health Anxiety and recently noticed that my jugular vein is prominent on the right side of my neck but have no other symptoms. A quick Google says I shouldn't be able to see it and it could be linked to right side heart failure. I've been looking at people more closely lately and I can't seem to notice theirs. Has anyone else noticed this with age?

Really hope someone out there can tell me this is nothing to worry about before I see theGP on Monday!
