What a minefield! Anyone own a Phillips sonicare , my dentist recommends this brand. Just about to look online .

I’ve used an electric brush for 25 years. I couldn’t imagine using any other way of cleaning my teeth.
The one your Dentist recommends is very good.

No idea about that particular one but would advise really searching around as you can often find toothbrushes at half their advertised price.

I’ve had an Oral B, then a Sonicare, now I’m back with Oral B. The Phillips one sprays everywhere!

Cleans the teeth well but I have been disappointed with the battery life which is only about a third of the time my previous cheap electric toothbrush battery lasted. I have arthritic hands so found the buttons a but difficult to press but manage. I certainly find they give a more thorough clean than a manual and it has a timer so you know when you have dine your 2 minutes as it gives a beep every 30 seconds. They are often at a discount so shop around.

I use a Phillips Sonicare. It’s getting a bit old now, and the outer coating is disintegrating, but it doesn’t affect how it works. I prefer it to the Oral-b toothbrush which I had before, as the battery life lasts much longer between charges, and I prefer the vibration action to the rotary action of the Oral-b. The are often on half price offer, but don’t bother with the more expensive ones which have more options, a basic model will be fine.

I agree that they certainly give teeth a good clean. I have used an Oral B for decades. Not the same one!

My Philips Sonicare battery has stopped recharging, sadly, as it was very efficient and had several settings. I’m now using up my late husband’s Sonicare, but it is less powerful, only one speed, but much better than a manual brush. I use it after using a water flosser, which gets rid of lots of debris.

If I use an electric toothbrush my fillings drop out.

To the posters that use the sonicare electric toothbrushes are the Roundhead ones easier to use please

I use an ordinary 'manual' toothbrush, but I follow up with an electric water pic. I think it's the best thing ever, I'm continually amazed at all the little bits of debris it dislodges.

Have used Oral B for years as all their heads fit their various models.

I have a Philips Sonicare and like it. I tend to put it back on the charger after every use, so battery life isn't a concern for me.

After vacations when I use a manual brush, it feels good to give my teeth a good scrubbing with the electric!

Snap to an OralB. It's lasted for ages with a succession of heads and easy to buy online. I got a back up cheaper oral B one which wasn't as good, I recommend shelling out for at least a medium price one

I use Oral B,too. When we go away I don’t take it, just use ordinary toothbrush. I have to say my mouth feels dirty and I am glad to be back to my electric one. My dentist recommends them and says to take a battery powered one with me when I go away. Haven’t got round to that yet.

Oh....somehow i have 4 different electric toothbrushes and battery chargers. Can't work them all out.

I use a Suri electric toothbrush. I did have an Oral B but it just felt too weird for me.

annodomini Tue 29-Apr-25 10:08:12

OralB 'lives' on its charger which is wired in to a socket in my bathroom cabinet. So no problem with a dying battery. I occasionally use an ordinary toothbrush when I'm away from home, but my mouth doesn't feel as fresh.

There are often very good special offers in Boots. Always worth a look. Plus you get points.

kittylester Tue 29-Apr-25 12:42:03

The resident dentist recommends Oral B preferably with a small head.

Visgir1 Tue 29-Apr-25 13:12:51

I have used Oral B ones for decades, my DS /DD also had one when small which has carried on now they are AC's and have Children.

madeleine45 Tue 29-Apr-25 13:16:28

Just speaking to the dentist about the electric toothbrushes and her main thing was to say that you should just hold the brush against the tooth, but dont press on it, as that can over time spoil your enamel on the teeth.

silverlining48 Tue 29-Apr-25 13:31:54

OralB for me too. If I have to clean my teeth with an old style brush I never feel they are clean.

dogsmother Tue 29-Apr-25 16:43:40

Agree oral B. If having to go manual, feel have done and a little uncomfortable.

seadragon Tue 29-Apr-25 17:43:18

Loved all my Oral-B's. The first was a present from my son. The current one has 3 speeds. The most rapid speed is great for removing my red Maybelline lippie too!!! I have miniature brushies for in between toothies too...
