Hello
Hoping someone has some advice here. I have numbness/tingling in my feet and hands. Some days are worse than others. Had a blood test from GP and all ok but she has referred me to a neurologist. I am completely dairy free due to allergies and eat v little meat. I wonder if I should have an active B12 test (the blood test I had doesn’t check for this). Thinking of getting one privately. Does anyone have any experience of this? Thanks Grans - I am getting worried now. I am 66 btw.

Careful with B12. Sometimes your blood B12 seems OK, but the some medications affect the absorption of B12, so it isn't getting to where it's needed, and further tests are needed.

Siptree

My surgery (I'm in Suffolk) allows us to self refer to physiotherapy at the local health centre. I've been for Plantar fascitis and back pain and got really good advice and a course of treatment and six sessions of exercise therapy for back pain. My feet are good now and my back is better than it has been for years. Maybe worth checking if your surgery has anything like this available.

May I ask how the self refral works Siptree. It sounds like such a good idea.

Neuropathy and nerve compression are different. Nerve compression can cause the same symptoms as neuropathy and can be treated with physio, but other forms of neuropathy aren't caused by compressed nerves and are more difficult to treat. The damage has other reasons. Physio won't help.

I have peripheral neuropathy in my feet and legs, up to my
knees. It is painless though tingly at night. My feet feel as if I am wearing wrinkled socks, but otherwise, the surface numbness isn't significant.
