Immediate denture

I have a Valplast partial denture. It just clips in. I’m very pleased with it.

I takes a while to get used to but you will have to persevere. A private dentist will have made a more thorough job than an NHS dentist would have done. That is not a sideswipe at their abilities but financial restraints mean the fit is not as precise as it might be, in my experience anyway.

@Among Us I think the biggest concern is that it is “ugly” or “too fake”. But really, when smiling or talking normally, few people pay that much attention. The important thing is that the doctor does it well and you are confident, then people will see it as more natural than you think.

@YoPlay Don't worry. I had an immediate partial denture for my top front teeth a couple of years ago. It did feel bulkier at first, but after a few adjustments it looked fine and felt comfortable enough.

The impression will be taken before the extractions are done - that is how the denture can be immediate. The lab technician can remove the teeth from the impression..

I believe the mould is made before the extraction so that the "new" teeth are the right size/shape.
I'm sure this is how my mother-in-law had hers done.

Unfortunately, my existing denture isn't the type that can have teeth added to it. It has a chrome bar inside my mouth joining the two sides as the present dentures are back teeth and the front teeth won't be next to them.
My dentist is making the next one so that I can have teeth added in future. It will be more bulky though, which is why I am apprehensive about it.
She is going to send my present one to the lab to see if anything is possible once I have the new one in place

Do you mean you will be able to have a denture , immediately after extraction. That sounds painful. Don’t they have to make a mould first ?

Could the lower front teeth not be added to your existing partial?

I had an expensive upper partial replacing all the molars on both sides for 15 years, but recently had to have the remaining upper teeth extracted. I had the new front teeth added to the partial (done the same day), and am very pleased with it, although it has been rather a learning curve adjusting to a full denture.

People often get on so well with an immediate that they never do back for a proper one.

They are supposed to be temporary but I'm not sure how long I will keep them.
My dentist says I might just need a reline in a few months as I am only having 2 teeth out this time. The back teeth were extracted years ago and I've had a permanent partial denture for 8 years in the back.in

Is this a temporary measure?
I think my mother-in-law had a few teeth like this for a while.
I think they were moulded from her existing teeth - from memory they looked pretty good.
