Possible shingles help!

Go on the NHS shingles site, there is a pic of shingles around the eye and tells you what to do.

Jaxjacky is right. Get SOMEONE to see it ASAP! Time is of the essence - caught soon enough you can have antiviral and that will kill it dead in a couple of days - leave it and it could be too late. www.nhs.uk/medicines/aciclovir/

Get the antivirals, consider acupunure.

I agree, you need antivirals NOW. I have forgotten the length of time between diagnosis and when you should or should not be babysitting. Google that and it will give you a better idea.

Be warned, shingles around that area can be painful.

Ring 111 urgently. Take a photo of the rash. You need antivirals ASAP. Ring GP as soon as they open as well.
111 were very helpful on a sunday and alerted the GP so that I had an appt on the Monday. It was during the covid problems so I had a tel appt and emailed the picure of my rash. A prescription for antivirals was sent to the pharmacy. Shingles is very painful. Ask for advice about painkillers.

My BIL almost went blind from shingles. Get help now.

I am just recovering from shingles inside my eyeball not on the eyelid. I woke up one morning to find I had completely lost my sight in my eye. Straight to A and E, saw an eye consultant. Hourly steroid drops, 2 hourly other drops, anti virus tablets 5 times a day, twice weekly visits to hospital eye clinic. The sight has gradually returned but nowhere as good as it was, they tell me it never will be. Go to A and E this morning. Or Google CUES opticians near you who will see you today and get you an emergency appointment with the eye clinic at your local hospital. Delay could be serious.

Like the previous GN's, time is of the essence. Shingles is no joke. I had it many years ago and you need an appointment now so you can start the treatment. If you are over 70 you should have been offered a shingles jab. I wish you well.

I had shingles last year. Felt sore in a patch of my body and saw a rash felt tired and then another patch appeared quite quickly I called 111 as it was a Friday eve think I sent a picture and was quickly told to go to out of hours doctor and given a course of antivirals. It was a bit painful and itchy i had oatmeal baths and applied camomile lotion which did help too.

When my 91 year old neighbour developed shingles 18 months ago she asked the GP whether I was at risk, as I spend time with her giving lifts, changing bed etc. She was told that she was not infectious, shingles can be caught from someone with chicken pox but not vice versa. You would need to check, but it may be safe for you to spend time with family.
My neighbour developed the condition around Christmas and New Year and refused to phone 111, so she was late receiving anti-virals. She still has severe pain in her side and is quite limited in what she is able to do. I would therefore hope you have already been seen by a medic.
