he should see his GP. don't be embarrassed. there is treatment for this.a doctor can prescribe treatments for offensive-smelling feet, especially if home remedies and over-the-counter treatments are not effective. They might prescribe stronger antiperspirants or antifungal medications, or recommend treatments like iontophoresis for excessive sweating. In some cases, they may refer you to a podiatrist or suggest Botox injections for severe cases of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Was going to suggest Botox

I've just looked it up .
Strong black tea is recommended for smelly feet .

The trainers are trapping smells.
Perhaps they can be sprayed or have two pairs -one in the wash and one out .
When my son hit puberty-he stank !
I came back from a long shop one day and felt sick from his male pong .
His sisters told him in no uncertain terms and he became more vigilant.
I used to get him to soak his feet in warm water infused with green tea and it helped to get rid of the smell .
It's an Asian custom .

Thanks to everyone for some really helpful suggestions. He's seen the GP a while ago but he didn't come up with anything at the time. I'll send these on to DS26!

I used to have smelly feet after wearing some synthetic trainers to aerobics. They were expensive, but I had to stop wearing them. All then returned to normal.

Vinegar in warm warter soaks help.

If it is truly bad and not responding to ordinary cures I'd see my GP.

Does he have several pairs of shoes to switch between (including more than one lot of gym shoes)?

Does he keep his toenails clean and tidy?
They can also harbour bacteria and fungus.

Years ago my brother also had this problem he found Fullers Earth helped.

Fuller's earth powder can be used to help with smelly feet by absorbing excess moisture and reducing odor. To use it, thoroughly wash and dry your feet, then sprinkle the powder generously on your feet and between your toes. You can also dust some inside your shoes and socks for added benefit.

Also bathe them in Epsom Salts and make sure to dry your feet thoroughly especially between your toes.

My brother used to have that problem. My mum got him to soak his feet each evening in a bowl of warm water with some potassium permanganate crystals dissolved in it. You can get the crystals on Amazon. You only need a tiny amount and be careful as they turn fabrics etc pink!

A friend had the same problem and found washing twice daily with antibacterial soap and using g a spray antiperspirant on their feet really helped. They also started wearing cotton socks which helped absorb sweat.

Maybe it’s the trainers rather than the feet? You can wash trainers in the machine, put them in a mesh bag first.Or spray the trainers with a foot spray and leave them to air.Clean socks every single day too.

My DS26 is struggling with very sweaty feet and they really smell. He keeps them clean, washes his feet, etc. He has had a couple of fungal infections but it's the smell that bothers him most (& us!)

He's a bit of a gym bunny and wears trainers but he takes them off as soon as he gets home and washes his feet straight away. It's upsetting him now.

Any advice would be appreciated?
