Cell Stem Therapy Knees

This research looks like a step forward Before I had my knee replaced I asked about stem cell and was told that it was 'years away'.

I had oneknee done but would much prefer the second knee tohave cell therapy but I am afraid thats not for our generation.

Just a proviso - The Spherox link from royal orthapaedic hospital isn't talking about the same thing as most stem cell knee therapies. Usually they just harvest from the marrow, filter in theatre and inject into knee joint to boost cartilage repair.
The Spherox is little spheres grown in vitro from your stem cells & then injected into the knee joint at a future date.
I've no idea how well it works but just make sure you're comparing like with like if you're conssidering this.

Yes, that's what I was told too but it was a few years ago now.

Had a word with my doctor on this, he said the results were not convincing. Also, was not viable on older knees - more used for young people who have damaged their knees.

Search Google for Jack Nicklaus stem cell therapy. Interesting read...

I did ask about this when I went for a first consultation about a knee replacement but was told it was tpyears away and trials were conducted on younger people anyway.

It sounds much better than a TKR!
