I had this done many years ago at Liverpool Dental Hospital. A tumour was removed at the same time.
I can honestly say I didn't feel anything, not even tugging.
Later as the anesthetic wore off there was a lot of throbbing. To be expected after this type of surgery.
I took pain relief and slept for a few hours. Good luck with yours. I hope you will be fine. shamrock

I prefer extraction to root canal any day. Best of luck but you'll be fine.

Sikipoo

Has anyone had tooth roots removed. My crown snapped off and just the roots to be extracted.
How bad is it?
Dreading it.

completely painless but it took a long time.

Ive had back twisted roots removed which included removing some bone and stitches. I can honestly say I didnt feel a thing - not even the injections. The thought of it was worse than the event! Next to no bleeding. Paracetamol if required and salt water rinses. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. It’s just the roots to be extracted and then left to heal as he is going to replace with a bridge.
It’s not the pain, it’s the thought of tugging etc,but hopefully roots will be easier 🙏🏻

MollyNew now that you have said that I m trying to think how it worked for me. It was 7 years ago so I can’t swear to anything but I know that I absolutely did not leave the surgery without the dummy teeth and the dentist had a bit of a struggle to pull the temporary plastic ones off. I am presuming that the pegs were put in immediately after the extraction.but am prepared to be corrected.
I had the bone density assessment before extraction.
However it was done I was and still am very happy with the result.

As long as the dentist is good at numbing you up, you shouldn't feel a thing. I had a tooth removed earlier this year.

However, I had implants a few years ago and I didn't have them immediately after extraction. I had to wait for the gums to heal. When I had the recent extraction, the dentist told me the same. It takes a while for the extraction site to settle down after an extraction and also the bone needs to be assessed as you might need bone grafts. It's best to speak to your dentist about this.

I expect the dentist will make sure you are really numb.
If you are thinking about a tooth implanted then you must have it done at the same time.
I think the pulling will be the worst part of it but I shouldn’t think it will be too painfull.
