After reading this would you ask a a medical professional if they were a Dr.

I would be reluctant to be seen by a physician associate, and I know there is one at the surgery I have just joined. I think my past professional experience would outweigh theirs, especially on one subject.

Practitioner...not practice

We are always told when we book...they confirm with you the time , whether its face to face or telephone, and the name of the practice and their job role....so we know exactly who we are seeing...all our appointments are same day....we don't have physician associates at all in any of the gps in our town....lots of nurse practitioners though....I find these are great...very clued up and knowledgeable

I just ask to see the GP I like by name.
If it means I have to wait a few weeks I will.

Anything urgent is different...
But I always ask what their role is before I commit myself to seeing them anyway.

You can't get appointments with Doctors like it used to be you cannot phone and get an appointment for in a few days anymore But the waiting room is empty I would be happier if I saw a nurse practitioner as they have more training than the associates

No I wouldn’t be concerned about particular qualifications. I am much more concerned about a person’s competence to do a job and their willingness to ask others for an opinion or guidance when they are unsure. Even top consultants talk to each other and their own teams about unusual cases, and that is how it should be. It’s when someone thinks they know, or is too proud to check that problems arise.
