I never knew knees could be painful until a torn meniscus doing sport earlier this year.
Immediate physiotherapy, every fortnight to begin with. About 8 sessions in total, back to near normal 5 months later.
Oh yes, and paracetamol served me well, especially at night.

Ice pack worth a try.

Isn’t gabapentin for nerve pain? Why were you described it?

It's used for various ailments epilepsy, nerve pain, osteoarthritic pain. Usually for joint pain GPs work their way up to it, it helps some not others.

I know my neighbour took it and made her feel very zombiefied. Not sure if it’s something that makes you feel less so when you’ve taken it for a while ( eg I took zispin for short while and after initially feeling very tired I did get used to it).

My recent emergency hospital entry started (I believe) with a very painful knee. Fir approx a fortnight, my left knee was painful whether I was sitting, lying down, bended or straight, that I was having serious problems moving around indoors.

Eventually, tried to make an appointment at GP, and got told I would need to wait for this for ten days. when I came of the phone I was upset, and had been feeling very cold all that day.

Within hours, my daughter had got a 111 appointment for me at that same GP,and whilst there I became so ill, that they called an ambulance and I was cat. 1 to A&E.

Diagnosed with infection, loads of anti-biotics, in patient for 48 hours, only allowed home when I said someone could stay with me.

Slow recovery from all of this and since then no pain in knee - so I assume that is where the infection was.

So, my advice, is DO NOT IGNORE - go to GP

Physio is the best initial treatment and the physiotherapist can advise you on the appropriate exercises for you to do at home. Hot or cold pads are helpful for the pain. I've started using an exercise bike, which has helped to strengthen and keep movement in my knee.
