I don’t know anyone whose had Covid recently it’s no longer talked about around here
Well I do!
Me!
And it seems I passed it on (without knowing, as I’d thought it only a “summer cold”, )to my D, SIL and 75 year old sister in law.
The “young ones” have more or less bounced back but I’m still coughing nearly 4 weeks on and was wiped out for a good two weeks.
I’ve had all my jabs, am otherwise in excellent health and somehow seem to have swerved it up till now.
I tested when I got back from holiday, but would not have thought of it if I had not been due for day surgery at our local hospital but I thought better safe than sorry . Just as well I did.
There is a new strain going the rounds, called Stratus, has two variants, XFG and XFG.3, with XFG.3 accounting for 40 per cent of cases in England as of June this year. The strain is surging, with distinctive early warning indicators.
The variant carries with it an initial symptom that individuals might dismiss rather than recognising it as an ailment. Stratus' most frequent early warning indicator is a hoarse or gravelly voice, which subsequently gives way to the typical Covid signs like a temperature or a cough.
One reason it is spreading is that people think it has gone away- it hasn’t.
