He is no longer using any drops.

DH was on Latanoprost and 2 other eye drops. In June he had a Trabeculectomy, the pressure in that eye has been less than 5 since.
He has another appointment today to find out if anything needs to be done about it.

I have been on Latanoprost for just under two years now and have not noticed any stinging.

I’ve been using Lantanoprost for more than a year and only felt stinging in my eyes with the first few doses. On the recommendation of my optician, I use moisturising drops a few times each day which can be bought quite cheaply from my local pharmacy and can be used with contact lenses.

Yes I recommend Glaucoma UK as well. I had forgotten I did email them with a question some time back. Very helpful answer.

I’ve used these drops and they did sting at first but it wore off as my body got used to them. If it’s so bad that you’re tearing up, having trouble seeing after putting them in you need to check back with the eye clinic. The easiest way is to ring the medical secretary to your consultant.

I would recommend looking up Glaucoma UK on line. They have very helpful fact sheets and a helpline which I’ve found very useful.

I have had high pressure in my eyes for more than 20 years and have been using the drops prescribed by the eye hospital for that time. First Timoptol and now Ganfort.
The pressures suddenly went up a lot 2 years ago and I had an iridotomy where a small hole is lasered into the iris. At the hospital. This has been successful and I wonder why it wasnt done years ago. I am only wondering this as a friend who didnt have high pressure, but whose father did, had an iridotomy about 25 years ago as a preventative measure. It may have saved 20 years of drops.
I must ask at my next hospital check up which shoukd be every 9 months, but I always have to chase them up for an appointment.

I am on a single-dose version, Monopost. I was diagnosed about 8 months ago (still waiting for my promised 2 month check for side effects). For the first couple of months I experienced pain and rawness in my eyes, but that seems to have settled down now, so hopefully yours will improve too, Mandymoo.

The skin around my eyes hasn’t darkened, but has suffered from stretching due to the way the drops need to be instilled.

Fingers crossed it’s all worth it!

May I recommend you open a new thread about your family phillips.

I am on Ganfort which has made the area around both eyes very dark. I look as though I have 2 black eyrs. If I change to another type of eye drop the blackness will remain. It does say this is a side effect on the instructions, but I would not have thought it would be so noticeaable.
The drops keep the pressure down so I won't grumble, but if I were a lot younger I would be upset. However they dont make my eyes sting too much.

I have not tried Latanaprost. Sorry.

My 43 son has just got divorced and is in a new relationship His new girlfriend is lovely, they now have a house together. There are 4 children, 2 of my grandchildren and she has two also.
They seem to go drinking a lot and always have plenty of alcohol at home too
We’ve been on a couple of holidays together and have noticed that she is a heavy drinker. When I say heavy in one afternoon/ evening she drank 2/3 bottle of vodka with coke. The children weren’t there at the time. The next day was similar and didn’t show her face till lunchtime.
She doesn’t appear to suffer any hangovers and I would say she is a functioning alcoholic.
When they visit I offer a cup of tea and they ask for a can of beer.
Both have good jobs and care for children very well.
The problem I have I’m worried about her. My son is a social drinker but nothing like his girlfriend.
Shall I ask my son about her drinking and make suggestions or just leave it and hope
