Keep off pork bacon sausages and lamb.
Steak or beef is okay.
Try not to drink lemon/lime canned fizzy drinks
avoid spicy items,like curries
Wear very warm stockings/socks
Wear very warm gloves, not so much to keep your hand warm, but to stop the cold getting to your hands and wrists.
I got a wool shop to knit me a pair of gloves with the warmest wool they had
It cost me thirty quid, but its money well spent
If you attend the gym use the steam sauna which can help drive the cold out of your feet wrists and hands.
Don't use the stone cold plunge pool.
Don't use the hot cold treatment like you would for a bruise.
These are my natural remedys that work for me.
Medication, I know you can take allopurinol but you have to take it for ever, although my doctor prescribed another tablet which I only take WHEN gout flares up,which seems to be less and less these days

I can only speak of my experience. I used to get a painful toe, mostly the large one but sometimes a different one. The diagnosis was gout. I totally got rid of the pain by drinking Sour Cherry Juice Concentrate. Once a day. I just pour a glug into a glass and dilute it with tap water. It took a week or so to kick in before the all the pain and almost all of the swelling went away. Brilliant!

I did this for two years and had no more gout problem.

Then I went on holiday and did not take the Sour Cherry Juice with me. I thought what the heck, I've not had gout probs for ages, it will be OK. Around 12 days off the juice my gout was back! On my return I went back on the cherry juice and the gout vanished again.

It is worth a try if you are a sufferer. And no drugs with the accompanying side affects.

The prescription you get from the GP to cure gout made me feel so ill my DH ended up phoning 111 . If you have diabetes you are more prone to gout .

Yes, I got gout when I was young, probably due to a change of diet or hormonal and the medication brought me out in a rash.
The hospital said a hydrocortisone injection into the joint would help. It did and so far it hasn't returned. 🤞

The list of tips is helpful, thank you.

The cherry juice sounds interesting too.
I wonder if it works for arthritis generally?

Cherry liqueur helps chest infections. Unfortunately it’s bloomin’ lovely and when I did buy a very expensive bottle of it I knocked it back very quickly. In general, I don’t touch alcohol but if I have a bottle of something that tastes nice I can’t leave it alone….
