Has anyone had experience of a tkr revision? I have an infection on my implant (2 years old) and need surgery

Oh that’s really bad luck fflur, especially after just two years.
I’ve no any experience of this ( although I had a hip replacement four years ago) but hopefully someone who has will be along soon.
Meanwhile, have you had a look at the very long-running Hips and Knees thread here under Health?
It’s been running for around four years I think, so it’s possible someone there may have some personal experience of surgery revision.
Good luck with yours anyway.

Thank you both for replying. Knee infection is fairly rare, about 1% so its hard to find anyone who's dealt with it. The nhs site is informative but the American sites are terrifying so I try to avoid those. It will be a long haul, two surgerys about six weeks apart. Six to 12 months recovery. I am putting it out of my mind now and just looking forward to seeing my family over Christmas.

Less serious than a bone infection by far, but I had an infection in the synovial fluid around the knee abt 3 yrs after a TKR.
It erupted without warning. They opened up the first cut again, sluiced the knee through and stitched it up again. The knee objected most strongly. I think it's now a bit crooked, and also know that I could never put any pressure on it by kneeling or it would dislocate. So I can't get up from the floor and falling over would be a nightmare.

Good luck!

Thanks Winterwhite, I am not sure if the infection is in my bone or the synovial fluid. My knee is pink and warm rather than hot and red. The consultant warned me that they would almost certainly have to replace the implant. I think the implant has loosened and moved.
A yoga teacher showed me how to get off the floor without kneeling but I won't go on the floor voluntarily anyway! I love chair yoga.
