Having a DH on the waiting list for knee surgery, I was perturbed to read today on the BBC website “ Access to hospital treatments is being restricted in many areas of England as the NHS struggles to balance its books, the BBC has learnt.“
I have looked on the My Planned Care website at current waiting lists for local hospitals. I wondered if anyone has experience of these figures compared to reality.

My neighbour had an appointment and a date for a hip replacement, it has now been cancelled until after April due to government guidelines.

Phone his consultant's secretary and ask?
No noticeable delays here.

Not a logical position! As come after April they'll still have to do it - so where's the saving supposed to be there then?

Unless, of course, they're hoping some people will have been "removed from the list" by then courtesy of Mother Nature and a harsh winter in the interval?

I wouldnt be surprised personally if they wait for what one might call "natural wastage" to cut their waiting lists for them and shoving someone's appointment forward in time = longer time in which they're hoping you'll cancel iyswim...
