Thank you. I hope you are feeling a little better this morning.

I’m having this procedure tomorrow. Five extractions and an immediate denture fitted. I’m very nervous.

Oh poor you! I hope it all goes well for you. Thinking of you.

Poor you. I had a tooth removed a few weeks ago and it was hell and needed stitches. Newly qualified and nervous dentist! I was not well for nearly two weeks.

The word ‘hotel’ and ‘not local’ makes me think you are in some European country, being treated by a ‘quack’ - sorry , I don’t mean to be rude …….

Ah no, not at all! We live in a very nice North Yorkshire town, and the dentist is in York.
We have left the practice in our town and joined the practice our dentist went to, in York. That's because we like and trust him.

So we stay overnight whenever we go to the dentist. We're going home this morning.

I had the same but the dentist put polygrip on my denture and told me to leave it in for 24 hours before removing, cleaning and replacing. He also told me to gently rise with warm, not too salty water.
I was amazed how quickly things improved. I still use Polygrip even though my denture is well fitting.
I hope you’ll be ok soon.

It was months between extraction and fitting for me. So the worst thing was trying not to smile. I don't remember any blood.
I am sorry for you though. It sounds horrible. 💐

Hope you manage a good sleep 👍🏻

Aged 11 I had all my teeth taken out, with gas. Mouth full of blood. Immediate dentures.

DH had his denture a couple of years ago and he waited for 6 months after he had the impressions, for his gums to heal. I can't understand why I got the denture straight after the 4 teeth were extracted

I’ve had tooth extractions - I bled almost through the night. I rang the out-of -hours Place and they just said it will stop, which it eventually.
Sorry, I didn’t answer your question. It was the back teeth and I didn’t ask for dentures.
It must be awful to have dentures immediately after extraction.
I don’t understand - didn’t they have to take an imprint etc of the gap.
So sorry for your discomfort..

Thank you for all your answers. Yes. the dentist took the imprints at my last appointment, last month..

It's 10.45 now and I have had a sleep and feel a bit better . I am on my second lot of paracetamol.

I am in a hotel with my DH. ( The dentist is not local).

The pillow will need changing as I have drooled blood over some of it.

That sounds awful. Hope you feel better very soon 💐

Follow the rules, get yourself some soup (as I did when having a recent extraction). Hunker down wrapped in a warm blanket and let any other family members look after themselves. Plus take paracetamol 4 hourly.

And remember ‘This too will pass’ 💐
PS Suck some nice dark chocolate.

Oh that sounds grim. Hopefully, the next few days will help with the healing.

Oh poor you . Snuggle down if you can , I feel for you

theworriedwell Tue 03-Mar-26 17:31:41

Sorry, that sounds tough. I haven't had the same thing but just wanted to say I hope it goes well.

fancyflowers Tue 03-Mar-26 17:27:40

I am just back from the dentist. 5 injections, and a denture fitted. I would like a virtual handhold please. I know I am a wimp. I have a mouth full of blood, and I can't eat anything much.

I also have to practise tonight , taking the denture out and putting it back in again.

Has anyone else gone through this?
