Gosh, dentists! My childhood dentist was a nightmare. Back in the late 50s/early 60s, fillings seemed to be the thing. My dentist did them without local anaesthetic. It wasn’t until a school friend mentioned them that I knew they existed. I had to beg every time though. Then we got a lovely dentist in Henley who I carried on seeing even after I moved over an hour away. He retired and I had a lovely local dentist. Private and not cheap, but worth every penny. A few years ago I had to have a tooth out at the hospital as I was on alendronic acid. The dental surgeon was wonderful. Plenty of anaesthetic. He had to take the tooth out in several pieces and I had stitches. Plenty of warm salty water gargles for a few days and all was well. I think I can put up with most things if there are pain killers handy!
