ClicketyCkick - I’d choose gardening over humpty rumpty any day
You have to watch those bladder drugs as they can increase bp. Also can cause dry eyes.
There was also an article I read about dementia with those type drugs.
Tried probably every one but couldn’t get along with the dry eyes.
I now have 6 monthly Botox injections.
Oh cricky that makes me sound a nympho. No humpty for me thank you very much!

Has anyone experience of ring pessaries. I’ve had two uti’s since having one fitted to help prolapse
Yes - I've had one fitted about 8 months ago. Maybe I was just lucky as had no problems with the ring falling. It actually enabled me to do physical things I previously had to avoid like gardening not humpty rumpty.

For the last year I have taken up my pelvic floor exercises once again, having given them a try years ago and given up because I am a lazy person!
After one or two near "accidents", I bought a pelvic floor exerciser from "Love Honey" and I have been following the instructions faithfully for over a year, with really good results. It's a very simple
gadget in two parts and springs to provide resistance, very clear instructions and away you go! I hope you find this helpful.
Which pelvic floor exerciser did you buy please dahlia? I have been on their website and there are quite a few.

Yes when I first went for help with my prolapse 14 years ago I was fitted with a ring pessary, it often caused irritation rather than UTIs and had to be left out for a few weeks. It helped for a while but then it kept slipping out and during COVID I stopped wearing it and have managed without it ever since. If I could go back in time I would push for surgery, my sister in-law in a different area was told from the start she could have the surgery if she wanted it but I am too old now at nearly 83 I do exercises every day and try to avoid constipation and I manage.

I did the pelvic floor exercises with a physio after my hysterectomy.
It was 1-2-1 and helped a bit, but you do have to keep them up.
I was on a table and the physio placed her hand near my groin so she could feel if it was doing them properly.
She also did a before and after short internal poke around examination to check things had improved. I went weekly for 6 weeks and (should have) did the exercises daily at least once (didn’t always remember) three times a day was recommended initially
I am at the same place as you and have just been to a specialist pelvic floor physio. I was advised to try and hold on for an extra fifteen minutes and distract myself and try to build in a set time to go to i.e. every hour first, then every two hours, trying to build up to three. Pelvic floor exercises has so many different types that you really need your physio to advise you. But, the key is that it comes with practice and takes weeks. I even have a dedicated diary where I record everything. Three weeks in and I am starting to see improvements. Not sure about taking tablets, but it would depend on how bad your situation is. Check out this page which I found on line. It really is very useful background: thepogp.co.uk/patient_information/default.aspx Also, I was told to space out my liquid intake i.e. 1 litre in the morning and 1 litre till bedtime but sips not gulps. Good luck!
I have not had any side effects from Solifenacin at all. You can try it and if its not suitable ask to change to another one.
I’ve been doing the pelvic floor exercises. It’s helping a bit. There’s an nhs app called squeezy which I use
Thanks for the info on Solifenacin that is the one she wants to try me on, but when I read side effects I got so worried about blurred vision and constipation, glad to hear it works for you
I cannot comment on the prolapse and physio, but I can on the tablets. I have an irritable bladder which means as soon as urine enters the bladder, the bladder muscles start to contract and I can only hold about a 1/4 capacity of my bladder. When I am out I am always looking for a toilet. Also the muscles contracting is like a period pain, so it ruled my life. I have been on Solifenacin for about 15 years now and all the symptoms have gone. I tried once a while ago to see what happens if I stopped taking the tablets. The symptoms came back. I would ask for the 10mg strength as there is a weaker one, but it did not work enough for me. After a few days you should begin to notice a big difference.
I have just been to the gynae this morning about my prolapse and she has suggested I go to physiotherapist for pelvic floor exercises and has referred me. Also said she will send my GP a list of tablets to take to stop the urinary urges while I wait for surgery. Has anyone done this physio and taken tablets, cannot imagine how the physio class will take place, and unsure about tablets stopping me wanting a wee! many thanks
