Had the jab yesterday and have felt pretty dire today, headache, listless, sleepy, sore arm. DH also felt unwell. However we both seem to be feeling better now 24 hours later. They didn’t give us a document describing this particular jab.

Onward and upward. 👍

I had mine 2 weeks ago . A different one this time called Comirnaty at Boots Chemist.
I had a stiff arm about 6 hrs later but it went in a day. Luckily no other side effects.

It is a Pfizer BioNTech one.

Not had any for several years. Those asking why should do their own research and decide.

We have a flu jab yearly because as the year progresses the flu virus morphs and is different to the previous one, and so we need suitable protection. Flu jabs do not 100% protect us from flu, but it does a pretty good job, especially from dying.

Now swap the word “flu” to “covid” and that is why we have the Covid jab.

Makes no sense in continuing with the flu jab and not the Covid jab.

But each to their own - as they say ☺️

I had my covid jab last week and as usual had no adverse reactions, luckily. I believe in having all the jabs offered as I trust the science.

Can we assume that those who do not trust the medics enough to have regular vaccinations, will also not trust them enough to receive any treatment should they get covid???

Exactly, Franbern. We had ours yesterday, and so far just an achey arm and feeling a little weary.

Can I ask do you have to be a certain age to be invited for it? I’ve just had my shingles jab ar 66 but hubby won’t get his till 70 I’m confused? I do have bad asthma.

I regard them as a civic duty as it could keep me from occupying a bed in hospital that someone else more vulnerable might need. However, I have suffered with side effects this time. I am sorry for the lady whose DH got blood clots. But he could have got them if he caught covid and they could have been much worse.

Sueinkent Wed 15-Apr-26 12:53:24

Sorry I meant SiL.

I didn't mean that Covid and flu were similar, I meant that as flu changes every year, but we still only need one jag, why do we need 2 for covid.

monami Wed 15-Apr-26 13:58:33

i didnt trust this jab so had none, my husband was fit, healthy walked for miles not been ill in his life, had the jab died within 5 days.

I didn't mean that Covid and flu were similar, I meant that as flu changes every year, but we still only need one jag, why do we need 2 for covid.

Flu is a seasonal illness and the jab is designed to protect people over the Winter period. Covid mutates throughout the year and the protection from both the injection and a Covid infection fades quickly; hence, the need for two jabs a year for the old and vulnerable.

Had mine yesterday. As usual, no side-effects. Arm a little sore if I squeeze it.

Lupatria Wed 15-Apr-26 14:24:42

I had mine on Monday at my local tesco pharmacy!
I will continue to have all the jabs that i'm offered - i don't want covid, flu or rsv thank you.
i've had my pneumonia and shingles jabs too. my mum had shingles and that's something I don't want.
the only childhood illness i've never had is mumps despite being sent to "mumps parties" as a child and nursing my son through it. my gp reckons i'm naturally immune!

silverlining48 Wed 15-Apr-26 14:27:08

Had ours yesterday, Moderna, no side effects, feel fine. Never had a problem, luckily.
I asked if there is a point to these now, she said Covid though rare, is still around, but if i were to drop the spring one, it’s still worth having the winter one, just in case.

No thanks. Didn’t have it for the first time last Autumn and won’t have it now..

Same here. I only have the flu jab now.

I will continue to have it when my GP asks me to make an appointment. My family ask why I bother but I have a friend with long Covid and I wouldn't wish her continuing health struggles on my worst enemy.

I caught Covid in January 2021 and it morphed into Long Covid. I am now at the stage where the crippling fatigue has gone, but I can no longer go on sightseeing city breaks with my husband as the breathlessness can hit again if we walk uphills etc. Long Covid is a pain and I never thought it would hit me as I was so healthy. So - if you can, get the jab. Sadly, I had a bad reaction to the last two, so the dr thinks that for me, having another vaccination is probably best avoided.

susytish Wed 15-Apr-26 14:59:42

I had all the boosters until late 2023. Didn't have the jab as feel unwell following day. I don't want to alarm anyone but have contracted lung problems with breathing and although no-one actually says it is to do with Covid, it seems a huge coincidence that I started with this problem not long after. So will always have the jab now.
As I say, it could be coincidence.

We will have our injections next week and will accept any future ones as well although I have had a couple of bad reactions in the past. I was very interested to hear Sagosaying that her SiL had had pulmonary embolisms after a jab. This happened to me after the fourth jab and I ended up in hospital where all the doctors swore blind that it was pure coincidence and nothing to do with the Covid jab. The ward sister agreed with me and so have all the medics who have given me subsequent jabs.

TwiceAsNice Wed 15-Apr-26 15:56:58

I had them up until last year sometimes ok, sometimes with slight side effects. Also have a flu jab every year with no ill effects.

I am 72 and as only 75plus are being offered it at the moment I was not eligible

Grandmotherto8 Wed 15-Apr-26 16:33:40

I have every jab offered, Spring COVID next week. I have never had a single side effect from them which makes me wonder if they work on me. Having said that I have not had flu since 1970 and have never had COVID. I have a fully inoculated daughter who is struggling with long COVID and has been unable to work for six months now. She is a broadcast journalist so worked through each lockdown and was frequently in contact with the public, always fully masked. She has had COVID several times and now is quite poorly so I will never refuse a jab.

Nurseundercover Wed 15-Apr-26 16:51:51

I believe that everyone of pension age should be offered the booster for free irrespective of age, similarly the shingles vaccine. They are so expensive to buy privately, why should we pay. It’s not as if this is a cosmetic thing, the Covid vaccine is potentially a life saver. What’s more the shingles vaccine could help minimise the excruciating nerve pain which can last for a long time. I think the option to have them should be given to us.

My husband's due for one on Saturday but I'm not sure if I'm old enough yet - we always used to go and have them at the same time, and I got them early as he was vulnerable. Not now I'm afraid.
