I have experienced this recently, it is like an electric shock. Don’t think it’s Morton’s neuroma as it feels like a trapped nerve. Any ideas? GP suggested physio?

A trip to the drs maybe?

Doctor just suggested physio which I don’t think will help. I’ve had no change of footwear. It happens very suddenly with no warning and is I tensely painful. It seems so difficult to get a referral to a hospital nowadays.

Sounds like arthritis

If they red or swollen or both its probably arthritis can be excrutiating in toes and fingers.

Could be a stress reaction in the metatarsal. Not full fracture. Just overload. Rest, ice, better insoles. GP is right to start with physio. They'll check gait and footwear.

Are you diabetic? Nerve pain!

Could be gout. Look up the symptoms on an online symptom checker and compare so you have a bit of information when discussing with your physician. Do some massage of the digits or some warm compresses. Lastly, you could take a Naproxen to see if pain subsides. Good luck! Not meant to be medical advice. Always rely on medical provider for treatment.

Fibromyalgia gives electric shock type pain that comes from nowhere, can start in just one place

I had this and developed hammer toe!

.

Sounds like gout to me.

Did your Doctor not consider this as a possibility?

(You'll have to cut down on the fillet steaks, profiteroles and Brandy, if it is!!!).

Hi, I’d try a podiatrist. They are very good at checking the alignment of foot and if necessary getting you orthotics which can relieve the pain.

I’ve had Morton’s neuroma in both feet for many years. I’d say an electric shock can be an apt description of it. Maybe don’t rule it out without further investigation.

See a podiatrist asap

I have pain in my middle toe. I use a toe wrap/tube. Bought from Amazon. Helps enormously.

Refer yourself/request GP referral to NHS Podiatry. They are more likely to identify the reason for your pain and to advise on a treatment/management plan.
