I am due to have a hysterectomy later this year, having had prolapse problems and having a pessary fitted over many years. Interested to know how others have dealt with this.

44 years ago, no regrets, lots of benefits.

Transverse scar very neat hidden in that natural crease. (Surgeon promised me I would still be able to wear a bikini. I snorted I would not be seen dead in a bikini but he was right, I could have). I was out of bed and walking the next day with no pain relief required. Good Nurse tip was to have my husband bring a cushion for the car journey home, to place between my belly and the seat belt.

These days you might get it done via keyhole.

Back home I took it easy as advised but still felt "tired" for a month or so ; which is common. When that wore off I felt like a new woman.

If you feel tired after, just rest more. Follow medical advice re walking for gentle excercise/ avoid lifting anything heavier than a kettle or push/pulling a vacuum cleaner etc.

Had keyhole surgery about 8 years ago, all fine.
