I'm six years on letrozole now...I they saying you are advised to stay on it another 3 years then that will be due to your risk...but its up to you ...stop and take a chance...or continue...nobody can make you....it will be your 'predict' risk I'm guessing

I would ask directly for specific info from your oncologist by calling his secretary.

If you explain how miserable you feel they may try to better analyse the options and risks for you.

If you have a conversation with them you will I hope be armed with more knowledge and will make the best decisions for you.

Maybe thete are other drugs you could try if you need to keep on top of this for longer.
Good luck.

Hi,
I recently finished Anastrazole after 5 years so I can sympathise with how you feel as it made me very miserable too! My cancer was a very small grade 1 with no spread so they was no talking me continuing any longer thank goodness.
I still feel quite achy 6 months on but hair thinning and fatigue have improved. I feel like it’s wrecked my body , it caused my blood pressure and cholesterol to rise so I now have to take medication . I believe it continues to protect you for another 7 years so hopefully it will do its job.
I am now 68 so in answer to your question I’d base my decision on age and size/ grade/ treatment for original cancer. There is a site called Predict which you can input your stats in and it will give you the percentage advantage the treatment gives you. For me it was 0.5% over 15 years and tbh I continued as breast cancer was prevalent in my dad’s family . Even so I’m not sure I could have managed another 3 years as quality of life is important.

I've been on estrogen supressing letrazole for 5 years following breast cancer. They want me to stay on it for at least anoter 3 yrs, but I hate what it's doing to me. Weight gain, thinning frizzy hair, face has aged 20 years, bad skin etc. I know it's better than reccuring cancer but it's making me miserable. The cancer hadn't spread and i read that the benefits last for quite a few years after stoppinf the meds. Any advice?
