Varicose veins have appeared on both legs. I would welcome suggestions, if any, of dealing with them, just bought the compression tights, how uncomfortable and ugly, I look like Nora Batty.

I developed varicose veins during my third pregnancy, a few years later I had an op to strip them in one leg, now I have got
a leg ulcer, had one on each ankle, quite small but they really stung...nurse measured my legs for compression stockings. I couldn't even get them on they were so tight. I bought a gadget called a medi butler, that didn't help, they were too tight. I ended up buying a larger size, still have to use the medi butler, but it is a bit better, she told me the compression stockings help the blood to flow better, maybe if I had them sooner, the ulcers wouldn't have happened,

I have developed v veins mostly on one leg from my knee across the thigh. Old lady legs. Hate them. They are worse in this heat. Improve when I elevate them.

In fact from having slim legs in 2020 then having chemo for a blood cancer they seem to have maybe developed a touch of lymphodoema. Before,I started chemo both ankles swelled up and one GP presceibed compression stockings. No one measured me. I had to measure myself. They were oh so tight.

As soon as I started chemo my ankles went down. So the swollen ankles must have been a side effect of the progressing cancer.

I am ignoring them for the time being and trying to elevate as much as poss. Also walking as much as poss.
I think they may be a bit of a family thing. DM had them also DSIS who had hers operated on, but she still has others now.

AI tells me they are very common. No more shorts for me. Capri pants only.
