I have been on it since Monday and this is the fifth day. 100 mg twice a day. I will have completed them tonight. I had Cefalexin last week and according to the test this was sensitive along with Nitrofurantoin. Cefalexin appeared to work and by takingCyclizine with it I had no sicknessbut but when I stopped I had symptoms back again. However, Cyclizine didn’t help me with the Nitrofurantoin. I know you must always complete the course so I have persisted. This heatwave hasn’t helped but I have sipped water to keep fluids up and just hoped that all will be well when I finish these. I have felt so ill.
When I take the last one this evening it will stay in my system for 12 hours as it is modified. Today have been having niggles in the bottom of my bladder. I just hope it is the heat and not the infection. I don’t know what I will do if this doesn’t work. I’m 85 and have had a lot of infections but this improved when the doctor put me on vagirux about March time. I was so upset when one returned. Today I feel desperate as I’m so nauseous and not sure how things will turn out tomorrow.

I had to stop taking Nitrofurantoin as I was sick immediately after taking them so they were doing no good. My GP prescribed something else but it took four months of “something elses” before the infection cleared up. I really hope you are ok, I know how horrible it is. flowers

Thank you so much DamaskRose. I have struggled to keep from actually vomiting but have not felt so ill for a long time.

Oh heck! Do you feel liverish? I can’t remember feeling sick off those but I had this crushing sensation around my ribs & felt cold.
Now on my notes not to be prescribed nitrofurantoin

That sounds awful MT62. I am certainly going to inform the surgery. I will never go through this again. I can’t wait to take my last capsule and just hope it doesn’t stay in my system for long. This heat makes it worse.

You really must keep the fluid intake up, especially in this heat, I know straight away if I haven't drunk enough water! I also take D-Mannose capsules to keep cystitis at bay, they seem to help.

Gwylt that sounds awful. I have high bp. So expect that has gone up.

Fatoldlady. I take dMannose as well as a preventative. It used to work but not lately. I am sipping water all the time.

Remember you might need to take little extra salt because of the heat. Bound to be sweating more and with sipping the water things can get out of balance.
Just a little.
Packet of crisps ?
I find it helps with headaches in hot weather.
Hope you feel better soon.
By the way I also won't take Nitrofurantoin.
Been told by a doctor it can be a problem for chesty people.
