I’m on Nitrofurantoin and feeling so sick.

Thank you.Over the last hour I took the last nitrofurantain but now I am having trouble weeing properly. That area feels uncomfortable and I need to wee properly. I am so worried it is the uti again. Wondering if it is the heat.

I couldn't tolerate nitrofurantoin, I was on a crowded train from London & sat on the floor by the doors as I had to keep being sick in the toilet. I only took one tablet - never again! I'm fine with penicillin & trimethoprim.

Can't remember what alternative I was given but it wasn't penicillin based as I'm allergic to that.

Thank you wellbeck. I dose the food with salt. But you are right. Probably take a pinch of sea salt .

Remember you might need to take little extra salt because of the heat. Bound to be sweating more and with sipping the water things can get out of balance.

I find it helps with headaches in hot weather.

By the way I also won't take Nitrofurantoin.
Been told by a doctor it can be a problem for chesty people.

Fatoldlady. I take dMannose as well as a preventative. It used to work but not lately. I am sipping water all the time.

Gwylt that sounds awful. I have high bp. So expect that has gone up.

You really must keep the fluid intake up, especially in this heat, I know straight away if I haven't drunk enough water! I also take D-Mannose capsules to keep cystitis at bay, they seem to help.

That sounds awful MT62. I am certainly going to inform the surgery. I will never go through this again. I can’t wait to take my last capsule and just hope it doesn’t stay in my system for long. This heat makes it worse.

Oh heck! Do you feel liverish? I can’t remember feeling sick off those but I had this crushing sensation around my ribs & felt cold.
Now on my notes not to be prescribed nitrofurantoin

Thank you so much DamaskRose. I have struggled to keep from actually vomiting but have not felt so ill for a long time.

I had to stop taking Nitrofurantoin as I was sick immediately after taking them so they were doing no good. My GP prescribed something else but it took four months of “something elses” before the infection cleared up. I really hope you are ok, I know how horrible it is.
