After Cataract op I understand I need sunglasses.

I’m not sure where to get these. Has anyone any suggestions as to what happens and what I need. I asked in Specsavers but they only keep prescription glasses. Someone suggested you can buy over sunglasses to go over your prescription glasses but. If the cataract removal allows you to see without the need for my particular prescription that might not be a good idea. Bit confused! Any ideas would be gratefully received.

You want wrap around glasses like skiing glasses. I bought myself a pair of Serengeti or you could try bolle. I went into an independent opticians.

I have had both eyes done, on separate occasions. The procedure involves removing the lens with the cataract from your eye and inserting a clear lens under a local anaesthetic, it is quick and painless.

Marks and Spencer and Boots sell sunglasses and some independent chemists do too. You will need the sunglasses immediately after surgery and you will not be able to wear your prescription glasses.

You will be given detailed instructions and your eye will be covered. You will be given eye drops to use after the op. It is important to follow the instructions carefully.

You will need a different prescription for your glasses after the operation.

With my new lenses in both eyes I no longer need prescription glasses and I only wear cheap glasses for reading.

I am very pleased with my new lenses and I sure you won't regret having the operation.

I hope this is helpful and that it isn't too much information.
