We've been asked by Dettol to find 50 Gransnetters to try out their latest product - the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray. Here's what the folks at Dettol say about the range: "The New Dettol Power and Pure spray provides powerful cleaning, which penetrates and helps to breakdown tough stains, grease, dirt and soap scum on contact, leaving no harsh chemical residue behind - so no need for rubber gloves and no need to rinse."

This product test is open to all UK Gransnetters. It doesn't matter whether or not you currently use Dettol products - all are welcome to sign up.

If you're selected to take part, you'll be sent a trigger spay bottle for the kitchen (RRP £2.99). All you would need to do is try the product in your home and then add your feedback to a thread on Gransnet. Selected testers will be emailed confirmation and emailed a link to the feedback thread.

If you would like to take part in this product test, please add your details here.

Everyone who takes part and adds their comments to the feedback thread will be entered into a prize draw where one GNer will win £30 of John Lewis vouchers.

Thanks

Warning to everyone with cats. The active chemical in Dettol can be absorbed through the pads of cats and is harmful to them if they walk about on worktops etc. (I know they shouldn't, but they do if they have half a chance.) Dangerous Dettol, Safe Savlon.

What about the front paws of greyhounds bent on snarfing anything edible less than 5 ft off the ground?

absentgrana Fri 24-Feb-12 12:01:12

Sorry gracesmum I don't know about dogs.

Carol Fri 24-Feb-12 12:02:45

Dogs' pads are tougher than cats, but I wouldn't take the chance gracesmum

When we got previous greyhound, I was determined to walk her off her paws so that she would sleep on her first night with us. Little did I know that the council had sprayed the verges with weedkiller that day and the poor dog had of course been walking on the grass verges-it must have really stung as she licked her paws about raw that evening. sad

Poor girl! Mu dog cut her paw on some glass last week - only realised when I saw blood on the carpet. She's fine now. Why don't people think about the animals that walk in these areas? Poor foxes and squirrels must get hurt regularly.

Seems the grandchildren always want to cook cakes after mucky play so this would be great to clean their table.

saraguy Fri 24-Feb-12 16:50:22

Much needed as 2 small children and lots of pets. x

Mr Phoenix is currently in charge of kitchen cleaning, and is quite fussy about the products he uses, so I think he would be an excellent tester!

glammanana Fri 24-Feb-12 18:13:35

Think it would be good to have a DHs point of view so go for it Mr P

Anne58 Fri 24-Feb-12 18:17:38

I have completed the survey, along with an explanation about the possible tester!

Sbagran Fri 24-Feb-12 19:07:01

Me too! Thanks for the chance smile

granfromafar Fri 24-Feb-12 20:15:05

Yes please! Anything which helps with the housework must be good.

My kitchen work surfaces stain really easily so I'd like to find something that cleans them easier than the ajax [remember that one] like stuff I have to use now.

gracesmum Fri 24-Feb-12 22:06:06

Ideally I'd like someone to do the application too - any chance..........?grin

OH good I want one of these sprays so I can cover my front garden in it and put the bloody cats of pooing on it!!

absentgrana Sat 25-Feb-12 10:59:15

susiecb I do appreciate how beastly it is when a lovingly tended garden becomes a cats' lavatory – but I think killing the poor creatures is a wee bit OTT.

susiecb Sat 25-Feb-12 17:03:22

They were warned!!!!!grin

I have serious doubts about the current obsession with destroying bacteria, many of which are essential to health.

We've asked Dettol about the comment absentgrana made about cats and Dettol and they have asked us to let you know....
"For anyone concerned about using Dettol around their pet cats: Dettol contains Phenols which can be toxic to cats but only if they drink a large quantity, for example out of a bucket lying around after mopping the floor. The quantity in any Dettol cleaner such as Power and Pure is insufficient to be problematic and Dettol's Power and Pure's formula has been specially designed to leave behind no harsh chemical residue."
Hope that answers some of your questions.
