Can anyone recommend a light weight steam iron?

I have a painful shoulder and it is much worse after a spell at the ironing board. Any recommendations would be welcome.

Although they are expensive, a couple of friends with similar problems sing the praises of their presses, as opposed to ordinary irons.

Meant to add, it's probably the action of ironing rather than the weight of the iron.

Russell Hobbs steam xpress and Morphy Richards Turbosteam are both lightweight but as phoenix says the presses are excellent if you have shoulder problems . good luck with your search.

Tefal Ultra Glide?

I second Tefal Ultra glide. When my shoulders were painful I just let DH take over the ironing, problem solved grin

Yes. I purchased a POLTI steam iron off of the T.V. channel, Ideal World. I paid £79.99p and p.p. They sell it on their web site but if you watch it on freeview 22 it pops up now and again on 'offer'.

The iron works for me and I have arthritis in my hands. The reason being the steam is held in the big tank(700 mls.) and therefore the iron is lighter. It does need a space for it as it is bigger than the traditional iron but not as big as the steam press. There is a 3 year warrenty and I have always found the company reputable if I have ever returned any goods. It is brilliant at ironing without shining and easily goes over things like motiffs and all materials, no need to iron inside out.

Stansgran I think you have to ask the question as well as google don't you as people can give you their experience of using a particular make of appliance.Hope you are sorted smile

Yes, I agree, Glammanana and Stansgran, there's nothing like knowing how the things work from someone who's actually tried them.
