Help I don't like cleaning

OK, I have finished work (last October) I have never enjoyed house work and always have an untidy house, I just cannot seem to get organised. There is stuff everywhere.

I am now at the stage where the house is a tip and needs a jolly good scrub
The trouble is I can't seem to get motivated and don't know where to start
Hubby doesn't help as he keeps telling me to sit down. At the same time we can see our neighbours scrubbing and cleaning with gusto!
They seem to have a routine but it all seems so boring
I don't want to employ a cleaner though
Any ideas?

Yes, I've got an old caravan covered in green mould and two barns full of junkgrin

I never cleaned our caravan out after the very last holiday we had in it. So it's full of dust and mud as well as junk.

We've got one of those too, at the bottom of the drive. Guess what it's full of? grin

We've got an old caravan.

Any advances? smile

We have two garages and a shed. Our cars are parked in the drive because there's no room for them because of his rubbish spare parts/bits of old engine/tools etc.

Only if your DH accumulates as much 'stuff' as mine does....sigh...
I'd love to downsize, but he won't hear of it and anyway houses aren't selling round here. sad

jO5 Sat 05-Jan-13 22:31:44

DH has got several sheds. And I've got one. That must account for it.

jO5 Sat 05-Jan-13 22:31:08

Do I need an extension?

Ana Sat 05-Jan-13 22:30:29

I collect them. We need them for DH's collection of rubbish....hmm

Where are you getting all these rooms from? confused I've only got 9 if you don't count the hall.

Ana Sat 05-Jan-13 22:27:19

grin I certainly don't make sure they have a good clean every week! And as for OH helping.....hmm

celebgran Sat 05-Jan-13 22:23:08

we have 11 rooms counting the 2 bathrooms 12 if you count the cloakroom, oh dear, I do make sure they have good clean each week, but am getting very lazy housewife, especially since OH RETIRED, he is soooo helfpul!

Ana Sat 05-Jan-13 21:41:21

I've just worked out that if I discount the hall, porch and landing, we have 11 rooms in our house, so if I tackled one a month...I could have December off for Christmas and start again in January. Oh joy! hmm

I don't like cleaning either - but I like a clean house - lived in, but clean - so I just do it. And I don't like ironing, but I only like cotton and linen clothes, and good quality cotton sheets... so I do it - 'cause nobody else is going to do it for me grin. Mind you, OH irons all is own shirts now he is retired, bravo.

jO5 Sat 05-Jan-13 21:06:39

I couldn't do anything at all though, before my first cup of tea. shock

jO5 Sat 05-Jan-13 21:05:40

Alexa I feel the same as you. In a way I think housework can be creative. And satisfying. smile

Elegran Sat 05-Jan-13 20:49:20

That is the only way to be absolutely certain it is all deleted.

Can the hard disc be unscrewed and bashed with the lump hammer?

annodomini Sat 05-Jan-13 20:31:19

crimson, my son converted the hard disc of my old PC into an external hard disc for my laptop - I got a caddie from Ebay and he fixed it up. A previous hard disc got buried in the garden - just in case... blush

crimson Sat 05-Jan-13 20:07:54

I've been doing that for thirty years; it's like the Forth Bridge but, for some reason never looks any cleaner/tidier. It's theneverendingspringclean sad.

gracesmum Sat 05-Jan-13 19:59:51

I had this brilliant idea (but don't worry, I'll never carry it through) which was to tackle one room in the house each monthweek and really give it a good going over. I might start with the downstairs loo, but am sceptical whether I will get much further.

Oh the water thing! When I go anywhere [which isn't very often] I always put loads of water out for the dog [sometimes fill a bucket and put it in the utility room as well] in case I don't come back!
