Phoenix type 'chair' into the search box - they have lots of different types and colours.

ga very similar, 4 would be around £285, (bit more than the other 2 options, but the chair is, as you say very similar to the one I really liked) not sure what delivery charges are like.

Main problem is, they seem to only have it in brown sad

Phoenix I've recently bought furniture from this company and they were BRILLIANT and the furniture is, I think, very reasonably priced. They have lots of chairs, but this one is similar to the one you posted.

Furniture is a terrible price isn't it. We bought a table & four chairs about 10 years ago. It was the last dregs of the M&S sale and I paid £250 instead of about £1,200. Because they had been used for display the chairs were two different designs, but I like to think they look interestingly bohemian. I've since added a third pair of chairs, different design again, £10 from a charity shop grin

when & glamma I could do my old ones myself quite easily, but Digby would still scratch the backs, so it would be an exercise that might be repeated on a very frequent basis!

The old ones are a bit like this:

I would certainly do the job myself and reupholster as suggested by when you then have the option to match the seating with your kitchen decoration/paintwork and change it as the mood takes you,I do that in my kitchen I change the main wallpaper and paint the the chair's in eggshell at the moment the chair frames are duck egg blue which matches the stripe in the wallpaper.
Sand down the marks left by Digby they won't be noticeable with a coat of paint. You will have a great feeling of satisfaction if you do it yourself (save £s)

What about getting the ones you've got reupholstered and tarted up phoenix? In fact, if you buy a DIY stapler and choose your material, it's easy to do yourself. Sand the wood down and varnish or paint and they'd be new again.

It does help, anno ! grin But rather limits the choice, unless we want to spend goodness knows how long tramping the length and breadth of who knows where.

Living in a small village in North Devon does have it's drawbacks.

In all fairness, the Argos ones do seem to have mainly good reviews.

PS We bought the last lot without sitting on them, we were very pleased initially, it was only after about a year that they got uncomfortable. Even if you do try them out by sitting on them, there is no way of knowing how they will feel after a year!

annodomini Sat 23-Mar-13 18:16:56

Don't you need to sit on one to find out how it feels?

Anne58 Sat 23-Mar-13 18:11:16

This is one option, on special offer, buy 1 pair full price, get a second half price, so around £150 plus £8.95 delivery.

This is another

I don't like either of them as much as the first ones, but they are both at least sort of within budget!

I really did like the look of them, but waaay to much for me.

We currently have ones with beech legs and faux (for that read plastic) seats and backs. Problem is the seats have split (Tesco direct did send us a £100 voucher, as they split after only 2 years) , the padding in the seat part has got very thin, meaning that you get a pain in your thighs if you sit for any length of time.

Finding it difficult to get a replacement, Digby had started to have a bit of a scratch at the backs, (Maurice and Lily don't touch it!) can't shut the cats out of the room as it is a kitchen diner and their food & water is in there.

There are a couple of others that I quite like, but can't seem to get very keen about either of them.

If anyone has any suggestions, it would be appreciated. They need to be black. I will try to find the links to the ones that are currently under consideration.

What???? They are very basic for that price! I haven't bought furniture for a while, my flabber is gasted!

Anne58 Sat 23-Mar-13 17:33:51

We are about to finish painting the kitchen, and NEED to replace the dining chairs, truly need , not just a whim.

I really liked these when I thought the price was for a pair, but it's each ! shock Yes, I know that there are loads of chairs out there that cost more, but these are beyond my very limited budget!
