Bathroom saga

I am a member of Netmums and if I want help from a bathroom fitter, a tiler, a window cleaner etc. I look up the section where people leave comments. I have also left comments after the jobs have been finished. Less than 2 years ago I had the bath removed, a shower fitted and the entire bathroom tiled. It is beautiful and very functional. The plumber and tiler liaised re their work here and I did nothing except supply coffee and pay them both at the end of the job.

Boarding is great, much better than tiles, but must be installed properly.

I can only sympathize with anyone having to have workmen in, but sometimes you need to have trade people in. Unfortunately you don't know what they are like until they do the job.

Some years ago we had a ghastly experience with a recommended plumber he took 7 weeks to fit a overhead shower.
He tried to fit it three times before it was done kept fitting it incorrectly and each time he had to break the wall panel to get it off resulting in another part having to be ordered. What a nightmare.

His reply to me was, this is a waste of my time having to keep coming back why buy a bloody fancy shower that's difficult to fit.

I'll not tell you what my response was I could have choked him.

When he fitted the bathroom he didn't fit the front panel to the bath, when I pointed out his quote was for a fitted bathroom he said he wasn't a joiner and didn't fit bath panels.

He didn't balance the central heating system when we had new radiators fitted resulting in some radiators never getting hot.

Anyone got spa bath? My friend has and loves it was keen but he trying out us off! Got quote but not really given quality of stuff also anyone her know about shower boarding supposed be better than tiles for wet area?

I simply cannot understand why someone wouldn't get back to you when it's in their interest too!! Had a similar thing happen to me where I ended up going with another company after having waited 3 months to hear back (!!) from my regular guy. It's been 1.5 years and still nothing. For all he knows we could still be waiting! Unbelievable!

Thanks ladie oh dear glam a the feed back from bathstore not good at all online! So got main established local shop coming thurs give assessment and should get price by sat!
Saw the plumber in his van yest! Cannot understand why he never had manners to get back to us.

I was amazed at the number of people who said they were interested in doing building work for us, took plans and never got back to us. I chose a bathroom company that advertised in local glossy magazine, not cheap but work was of a high standard and fittings were good quality.
I have seen bathrooms done at a reasonable cost but have become shabby fairly quickly, false economy.

celeb, I feel for you! A year ago we contacted our usual decorator about doing the outside of our house. He duly came, sent and estimate, which we accepted and so we wait. It's a huge step, particularly when it's the outside, to get someone new but it looks like we are having to do that. I am so cross that he didn't have the guts to say that he couldn't do it, for whatever reason.

When we were having our bathroom done, we looked at Bathstore and thought they were expensive both for the work and for the fittings etc.

celebgran It makes you wonder why so many people are crying out for work when you just can't get job's done it is the height of bad manners not to get back to you with a quote imo,I wouldn't use them now even if they did get the quote to you,I don't know about bathstore.com can you go on line and look at their "reviews" to give you some peace of mind.
